In many cases this is true but, not necessarily.
If you think about it, before marriage mom is "the girl" in his life. Their relationship has a very strong bond, whether or not the relationship is good or bad. As in any relationship, habits form. In short habits don't break easily. So, out of habit, how man treats his mom, he will treat other women- including his wife the same way.
In contrast men will treat their wives differently from their mothers depending on how wife treats him or based on circumstances. People in general don't treat everybody the same way. Relationship dynamics vary greatly from one to another.

sweetie, it depends, honey. you have to look at the relationship with him and his mom, if she has done anything or treated him in any way that was a negative influence on him, then he might treat you with more respect then he has for her because he will not want you to be on the same level as his mom who he has a serious problem with. but on the other hand, if he is just downright nasty for no apparent reason to her, then i would suggest that you take another look at your relationship with him and go from there. but most of the time statement is true, just depends on the situation.

I always heard ... See how a guys father treats his mother and thats how he will treat you. So far I have found this to be true. But i think it has the same affect as you said.

No people just use that as a rule. If a guy treats his mom and others respectful, then chances are that you will be treated the same....if not I will kick his ...

I think how he treats his mom is a good insight into his character. And it also depends on his mother. It doesn't necessarily show how he'll treat his wife though.

I was with a guy that treated his mom very bad and he treated me great. . . . .but I always ask the mom what they think of their son.
