How do these correspond to the red,yellow and white jacks on my tv? Also, I have an HP laptop, how do I enable Svideo to work?

its the wrong converter. you received a svideo to component cable which is better than svideo but like svideo only runs the video feed. you want svideo to audio/video RCA (red,white,yellow) to dumb down the signal. if you get the right converter you wont have an issue with your laptop. simply plug in the svideo cable to your laptop and the converter then from the converter to your a/v (in) on your TV.

s video is just for picture, you need rca jacks for sound and or picture, red and white sound yellow picture. dont hook up the yellow rca if you use the svideo its bad for the tv or monitor. for a laptop you may need a s video too usb cable.

You got an s-video to component video connectors. Component video connectors are typically on high end tv's, such as HDTV's. It provides higher quality video than s-video. But, if your tv doesn't have these type of connectors, then your adapter is useless.

You are probably looking for an s-video to composite video (yellow).

To enable s-video, you can turn it on under Control Panel > Display > Display Settings > Advanced in Windows. If you cannot find it, then refer to the computer user guide.
