Sugar Ray Robinson without a doubt. He started off 40-0 before his first loss to Jake Lamotta who he would beat five times himself and then went another 91 fights without a loss before losing to exhaustion to Joey Maxim in a Light Heavyweight bout. He was a welterweight champ and a five time middleweight champ. He fought the sweet science the way it was suppose to be. He was sweet as sugar.

I think that if Sam Langford were alive today he would be the greatest pound for pound fighter of all time fighting for titles from lightweight through to heavyweight.
Peter Jackson would be the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Time was cruel and in there era they never fought for the title because good fighters were only to willing to protect themselves and avoid fighting them or discrimination and they never got the chance to fight for the titles or title.

I'll go with Rocky...Marciano.
You can't deny Muhammad Ali, he was a great boxer, but Marciano was the only undefeated heavyweight champion. Something like this is always open to interpretation, and cases can be made for a lot of good boxers, but only one is undefeated, and well, you can't argue with 0 losses.
