I run a summer computer camp called Funutation. As a revenue source we'd like to sell sponsorships (advertising). This would pay for scholarships for at-risk children. In return the sponsor gets listed on website, banners, etc.

I can sell camps, but not advertising. Are there people that have the job of Ad Rep and their job is to sell advertising live for TV, Radio, Newspapers? This would just be a different venue.

I imagine this person already sells advertising for TV and/or Radio and they have a segment of customers where they say "Here's another source for you to get the word out - Camp Funutation".

Most importantly, THEY ARE STRAIGHT COMMISSION

Where do I find these people? If on superpages.com, what is the proper keyword? (I searched on Advertising & I just found firms that help me write an ad, not sell advertising opps).

thanx

These people would not be listed on Superpages. I am a newspaper sales rep, and I sell advertising space in a daily newspaper.

I would approach your local newspaper, radio and TV station, and see if you can get them to start a partnership with your organization. I would start with the marketing director at the newspaper, for example.

A more clandestine approach would be to see if you can find email addresses for sales staff at these local places, and see if you can email them and ask if they would like to work on a commission basis for your organization to sell the banners, etc. If they are ethical, they will do this on their own time....

I have worked in Sales for five years now. It's not easy work. The hours are long and you will have to pay a high commission for someone to work soley on that.

Turnover is high - but is to be expected. Sales people are of a different breed. If you get someone with experience, they will have a set attitude and routine already. Just make sure when you are interviewing, you find a rep that matches your personality. It is very hard work in getting sponsors and selling advertising or underwriting. If you ever tell a sales rep that their job is easy, please duck. :)

They work around the clock. I would hire two and have them work different sides of the country. (I'm assuming you would be going after national accounts and not only local?)

I on the other hand am interested in this camp. Would you please email me at taniamariella@yahoo.com with more information involving it?

Thanks!

It's called Sales or Marketing. Every radio and television station has a team. Even the stadiums and sports venues.
