I was just curious if it was possible for a pickle to go bad?

Yes, pickles are cucumbers that were soaked. When the get soft and limp there no good.

As long as the jar is sealed the pickling medium will not deteriorate and the contents of the jar will not "go bad" per se. But after a certain length of time, of course, the pickle juice is going to generally break down the contents, and turn it to mush, so it certainly would no longer be something you'd find yummy LOL

Well... This is a good question.. I've had pickles in the fridge pretty darn long, and they haven't spoiled... but I'm sure if you left them in there for like 50 years something would happen.

Because the preserving quality of salt and vinegar (acid) is very strong the deterioration is extremely slow. But they won't last forever.

Im sure if they sit there long enough they will go bad but it will take a couple of years!

Yes but they have a longer shelf life than most foods.
