If we talk about friends of family members' argument, I believe YES is the answer. Friends or family members always find ways on how to just let go a simple or even big fight.

However, when you talk about relationships with your bf/gf, I would be uncertain about that. As people say, if you just broke up with your gf and became friends, there are only 2 possibilities---it's either you still love each other or you never really loved each other.

Then again, I still think time can take all your sorrows and pain away. Wounds in our body heals easily, but wounds of the heart needs to take a long time you know'

You are not alone, my ex-husband did so many cruel things to me physically, mentally and emotionally being together 8 years and of course he did not care because he knew oh whatever she'll forgive me but could I forget HELL NO it hurts like hell and you always end up having flash backs and stuff then there goes another fight because you can't help but mention it so my answer is you can always forgive but when it has to do with the heart you can never forget.

I don't think you can truly forgive unless you truly forget. I'm not saying it's easy to do, it's not. But if that person is important to you, and you want to keep him or her, then you are going to have to try. Otherwise it won't work, you just keep unintentionally hurting that person as a way to punish him or her for whatever it is they did to you.

Some things warrant forgiveness and forgiveness, some don't. Only you know what the situation calls for.

Good luck.

Depending on the situation, I can forgive and forget.

I forgive if they give a sincere apology. And I'll forget. Yes, sometimes the incident they apologized about would still be in my head... but I would never bring it up. It's just one of those memories that can't forever go away.

I'm the same way. But actually, if you truly are able to forgive you will forget because it won't be such a big deal once you forgive the person. I guess it's harder to truly forgive than people think. I try to forgive though...I really try and I try to forget. Like they say...Time heals all wounds and I believe that's true.

I forgive, but I will not forget. I don't believe we're meant to forget, because if we did, how would we prevent people hurting us the same way in the future. We need to remember things that hurt us so we get a better idea of where to set our boundaries.

God just says forgive. People added forget.
To completely forget is to invite a replay of the offense, unless the other person s truly sorry.

forgetting is VERY hard, depends on how much the thing affected you. there are things my b/f has said/done which i know i will never forget and they are not good things. but there's a million better things i'll also remember and they are the reasons we're still together. just make sure the thing you are forgiving him for isn't recurring

That's the sad part of it because we are human you can always manage to forgive but you never forget unless of course Alzheimer's set in.
