I am 21 years old and graduated highschool in 2002, I went to a community college but then I just left because the pressure was killing me, now I feel like maybe I partied too much outta highschool and i'm wondering if it would be a waste of time trying to go back, its harder for me to do math now and I dont want to invest time and money into school if i'm not smart enough, plus I might be on default for the pell grant since I abandoned my classes, there was a lot of problems at home at the time and I just wanted to get away, what do I do now? i'm starting to lose hope

Actually, it's never too late to go back to school. And it's especially not too late at 21.

Case in point: Just this week on the news was a segment about a 70 (ish) year old guy who is in 3rd grade. He kept seeing information on "free education", and he wanted to take advantage of it. He showed up at the school, and they sent him away. He kept showing up, and they finally accepted him in class. He said he never had a chance at an education when he was young and felt he had missed out on a lot. Now, he's loving it, he's a good student, and his presence is teaching the kids a nice lesson. He said he wants to get a "degree", but I don't know if he has time for that. But the point remains, he's in school. And he's in his 70's. If he can do it, so can you.

And, please, don't loose hope. When we have nothing else, we always have Hope. Trust in God, he'll give you all the Hope you need.

It is never to late to go back to school. I did the same thing you did when I was 25 years of age. I started classes and only finished one class. I dropped the rest with a F due to just quieting. I had a pell grant also. Now that has been 25 years ago. I am now 50 years old. I have decided to go back and get my RN nursing degree (associates). I am taking one or 2 classes a semester and paying my own way until I get going. Then later on I will apply for other types of loans or grants. If I do not qualify then I will just pay as I go a little at a time and still work full time. I am determined to finish this time and meet my goals so therefore you should also. Never give up. You are very young and you have many years left to meet your goals. Dont give up just get started now or as soon as you can.

It's never too late to go to school. All you need is the will to better yourself. You will be surprised that as you get older, it becomes easier to concentrate and those classes that seemed so hard when you were younger and you had so many distractions (beer, getting a girlfriend, the next football game), won't be so hard anymore. Start off in a 2-year college taking a few classes at a time to easy back into it. Once your goal is set, look into the major you want to take and also look into transferring into a 4-year college to get your degree.

Its definitely not too late to go back to school. you are still young. Im kind of in the same situation as you. Im 23 now and left college too. I don't want to waste my time and money in school but I decided im just gonna force myself to just deal with it because Im aleady having a tough time finding jobs without a degree. I think you should get a job and go to school part time. Take a few classes so you don't get too stressed out with all the work. Or you can join the Airforce. They can train you for a job and pay for school. Thats what i've been thinking about lately.

No, dude. If anything, it's just the right time to go back to school for you. It sounds like you've matured greatly and that's when you'll take school more seriously. Trust me, I've seen lots of my friends go straight to college and university from high school and couldn't take the pressure. I waited a couple years after I graduated and did the full four years with no problem and a decent GPA. I'm 24 now, taking another year off to save and gear up for my masters. Trust me, those few years after high school makes a difference.

Its never too late. Your still so young anyways. Try for some grants again, there are so many different kinds out there, my sister and brother in law just went back a few years ago, and she was 30 and he's 32, and they got grants from the state and it was enough to pay for the night time classes and books etc.

Go back to school. Go back to the school you quit from and start up where you left off as soon as you can.

You're obviously more mature now and can handle the demands.

A Pell grant is a GRANT. It's not a loan. You can't be in default. Go to your school and reapply, fill out your FAFSA and hope you qualify again. Don't give up.

It's never to late to go back to school. Your still young and have your hole life ahead of you. If your going to go into a university why not look into joining a frat. You could live in campus with the frat and also work at the campus. I believe it's cheaper that way so you won't be living at home. I know it's hard to concentrate in school, especially if your having problems at home, but you can do it. I know this from experience. It might be hard in the begging but it'll be all worth it in the end.

I'm in the same situation. It's never too late, but you may want to start back at community college. Take the basics to get back into the swing of things, plus community college is cheaper.

You should be back. You are so young don't you realize that? So check on the grant, you'll have to square up if you ever want to own a condo or house, anyway. You are so much more mature now, don't judge yourself by your teen years. Good luck!
