Isn't this like trying to make God conform to us and our will? Isn't it really idolatry to do this since the god they make is in their own image?

Christ left us with one Church that He promised would always be there, a city set on a hill for all the world to see.

By nature, protestants ,well...protest, especially against authority(particularly catholic), and scream for individuality. Thus,... well...they 'decide' reality for themselves, be it who God is , or who the enemy is(anyone who decides differently than themselves)

I am a "Protestant," and I don't believe that "who God is and what He teaches depends on the preferences of each person." I believe that the Word of God reveals to us who God is--his nature and character. But our relationship with Jesus is, at the same time, very individual. The Holy Spirit teaches us in all things, and sometimes he convicts us of things at different times in our lives.

Early in my Christian life, through the Word of God, the Holy Spirit convicted and instructed me mostly in the areas of my words and behavior. As I've been a Christian longer and have less struggles in those areas, the conviction and instruction has moved more into issues of my heart. This has nothing to do with my "preferences" and everything to do with where I am spiritually.

Perhaps you have created too big a group by lumping all "Protestants" together. I know from experience that not all Catholics are the same. Some are stuck in religious practices and traditions, and others know Jesus in a very personal way.

Ummm...we don't As a Protestant-and a preacher- I can say that you take the WHOLE bible as God's Word. Specifically, in Revelations, it is written not to add to or take away anything. There is no preference. Yes, some scriptures are hard to swallow- and yes you need to see the cultural influences to interpret some scriptures correctly. All in all, we believe God is everything He said He is and more and His teaching do not change.

Protestants interpret the bible by their own accord, the is one sole interpretation of the Bible, nevertheless it does speak to us depending on our situation at the time. The true Church is usually the oldest.

Jesus is the truth, the way and the life!

"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One"

(Shema Yisrael Adonai eloheinu Adonai ehad)

I am Christian and I believe that to be truly humble it is important to believe that God is who He says He is in the Bible. His church membership is made up of all believers and all who tell the unredeemed about His love and forgiveness.
Do you really believe that the Catholic Church follows all His rules and the rest of the Christians who have been born again into His kingdom are not part of His church. He is not bound by what men have decided.
Are you trying to help people realize God's love and forgiveness and believe that they will only find it in the Catholic church? Let me reassure you that I have had a revelation of the love of God and it was in my heart not a building.
He says He will judge our hearts and not our actions/works so what organization that we belong to to further His goals is not the deciding factor.

NO that is not the teaching of protestants somebody told this to discredit them. They believe in one GOD the father the son and the holy ghost. That christ came to die for our sins and if we accept him we become his children John 1:12. As a child you don't have to go through anybody else if you want to talk to your father but can meet him direct.

Why not? Christianity is all made up any way...why not make up you're own rules as you go along, thats what all Christians do.

I'm sure the Protestants can cherry-pick a few passages from the Bible to support their ideas. Thats how Christians do everything.

Why do Protestants believe that who God is and what He teaches depends on the preference of each person?

THE DO NOT.

It would be if that were true.

Having had to do many essays on the catholic church, I can say without any doubt in my statement that if you are Catholic, that is the most hypocritical thing I could think of.

Even more hypocritical than the catholic church’s stance on sex.

Can I use that in my next essay? - lol
