I have met this girl through a mutual friend a long time ago. She had a bf then and she never came out much so we never hung out. She has recently broke up with him and since then I've been wanting to pursue her. I saw her about 3 weeks ago at a party and we've been making plans to hang out since then but it hasnt happened yet. I asked her to a semi-formal I have this weekend and she said she was super excited to go and that she couldnt wait but then she ended up canceling on me last minute bc of her friends graduation which conflicted schedules.

My question is: Is it better to pursue a girl right after she broke up with her bf (she was the one who broke it off but since they were together for a couple of years im guessing she is probably not over him yet?) or is it better to hold off for a while? I dont wanna miss my window here or fall in the "friends zone" but if the right thing is to wait, how long should that wait be? She is gorgeous and I wanna move in for the kill!

If she truly was the one who ended it, that means she has likely been unhappy about that relationship for a while and that she is probably ready for a good relationship whenever that becomes available to her. I would take it slow, but I say ask her. Anything you really want involves possible consequences and pros and cons, but sitting and waiting is rarely if ever the route you should take to get anything, be it a job, a degree or the girl of your dreams.

Don't give up on trying but just let it flow. Don't ask her out anymore and she'll let you know when she's ready. She'll ask you the next time around. Continue to conversate.

It depends. Do you want to be the rebound lover? If so, then get in there now. If you want something more serious, give her time to sort things out. Unless she approaches you, then get in there!
