All of you against pit bulls, ridiculous. I have owned at least 10 different breeds over this lifetime and my dog Casper was by the far the gentlest, most mellow of all. He was a pure white, huge Pit Bull that was unbelievable with all children and other animals. This poor breed has really taken an uncalled for beating.

I love all dogs, the only dogs i wouldn't own are SMALL dogs. I like big dogs that can rough house a little, and that i can wrap my arms around for a big hug. My favorites are pit bulls, mastiffs, newfoundlands, boxers, bulldogs....
I don't have a dog yet, i live in a small appartment, and want to wait to get a big dog, but i think i'll get either a pit bull, or maybe american bulldog or english bulldog.

We just rescued a hound/pit bull mix form the local SPCA. He is an absolute sweetheart... nothing mean about him. He is 7 months old and almost 30 pounds. Pit Bulls are usually bad dogs because they have bad owners. Statistically, Labs and Cocker Spaniels bite more people than Pits. That said I wouldn't want to own a small yappy dog. It is like having a baby that never grows up. I know some people love them, so I am sorry if I offend... just not for me!

I will not own Poodles, Pits, any type of Spaniel, anything hairless, Schitzu, Lhaso Apso, Chihuahua, Char Pei, Pug, Boston Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, Airedale, or any type of Schnauzer to name just a few.
Basically I'm not a small dog person. I don't find most small breeds attractive in the least bit. I do have a JRT/Beagle mix that rocks though. He fell into my lap kinda, I will probably not get another small dog ever.
Why are you people giving thumbs down to people's opinions?? There's no wrong or right here! If people are wrong about Pits then so be it. Post your own question to argue about that!

LMAO Labs are BIG dogs, not small dogs!!!
Anyway, I wouldn't want to own poodles, chihuahuas, yorkies, or a boxer. Just a personal preference on the boxer, I don't find them very cute and the others - well I don't like small yappy dogs.

Cocker Spaniel.
They are not very bright. (As in they will repeatedly do the same thing that gets them injured.) I love dogs, and I can barely stand cocker spaniels.
It's not their fault though, they were too popular for a while, and were improperly bred. So, they're just for looks. They tend to have poor health as well.
Now, I'm sure that there are healthy, sweet, smart enough Cocker Spaniels out there. You'd just have to look long and hard. And pay a fortune to the most reputable breeder that you could afford.

It depends on why you wouldn't want to own them - I personally wouldn't want to own most hound breeds. Why? They're just not my cup of tea. I wouldn't want to own a big dog right now - no room in my condo. I also wouldn't want to own a dog that needs lots of attention or things to do (Border Collie types) as I work. So it depends on your whole life style on what kind of dog to get or not get. Each breed has their own personality traits and style. Getting a dog to me is almost like getting a pair of good shoes - you want to make sure they fit you very well and go with you have.

I would not want to own any dog that is lower then my knee for starters. I also would not want to own anything that was not 100% stable nerve wise. Nothing that could not be trained to work or seriously protect the house. And finally nothing that I could not train to compete in the sports arena with, In short, there is only one breed for me and that is the Belgian Malinois.

I think that owning a pitbull is in ways a good thing to do. I love all dogs and I think that pitbulls are one of the most underrated dogs that there is.

I don't like ankle biters, or little dogs that get underfoot. I like big dogs too although if a small dog came along in a time in my life that I could give it a good home and it needed one, I'd probably cave in, depending if I liked the dog's personality.
