All kittens do that, they are teething and that's how they play, scratching and biting. They love it when you grab their tummy's so they can claw your hand and bite it, it's playing but it hurts!

My male does the same thing still, it's a playful sign. The kitten is unsure if you want to play or if you're going to pet it so it's getting ready just in case. I'm betting that once you start petting it closes it's mouth, am I right? I wouldn't get rid of it, sounds like a normal playful kitten to me. A mean kitten would be attacking.

No, Kittens often play in attempts to learn hunting skills and the play biting is very normal and should stop as the kitty gets older, when she acts like she is going to bite you, stop petting or paying attention to her for awhile, then come back to her and try again. She will get the idea that biting equals no affection and she should stop.

Your kitten is playing with you. They have sharp teeth and claws so if you decide to play you may get a few little scratches, you'll live. To avoid any accidental injury keep you fist clenched as tightly as possible whilst your kitten is "attacking" you. Back feet are actually the most damaging. When you have had enough of the game, and it is just a game to the kitten, stop. Extract yourself as carefully as you can and move away. Kitty needs to learn when it's time to stop playing. Your kitten will grow out of it.

He is not mean, kittens are like that, especially clever ones. DOn't play rogh with him, don't pet him when he does this sort of things. Say NO when he shows he wants to bite you. He must learn that this is not a nice game, but not by hitting him etc, because then he thinks it's a playing rough game and gets worse.

It's just playing. He probably was with another kitten before you adopted him and they played rough. He will grow out of it. And if he doesn't do what I did get another kitten just as playful. Mine doesn't roughhouse with me no more, he is too busy playing with the other cat. When they come to me or my wife they just want to be cuddled with.

As your previous respondents have stated,I'm sure that it's only
a playful stage that he's going thru & no real cause for concern.
In older cats it's known as a "love" nip & occasionally they may
do this because they lke the way you smell i.e. perfume or mens
cologne.
A GENTLE tap on the end of the nose will let them know
that you don't like appreciate their behavior. The tap does't cause
them any pain but both cats & dogs don't like being tapped like
that & it will generally back them off.
It never worked with my son's 8 yr. old cat, however.(I call him
Mad Max,Max is his name)Since my son got him from the animal
shelter as a kitten, he's always considered me as a giant "chew-
bone."Even extremes....like,biting him back doesn't work.Such is
my fate whenever "Granpa" stops by to visit.
The biting back may sound bizzare but has always been effect-
ive for me as a last resort.
My mother had a male Siamese when she was still living. As with
that most of this breed, their insisors continue to grow as they age,to a point that they will extend outside their lower jaw.Very
long & very SHARP.
Very affectionate cat....but his love nips drew blood.
One afternoon while visiting mom,Tai jumped in my lap & after a
few moments, nailed me thru the fleshy part of my hand.
Out of anger & frustration,I bit his ear.
That cat bolted off my lap, whirled,& looked me as if to say,"Boy,
what's WRONG with you???Have you lost your ONLY mind???"
Mom had that cat for a lot of yrs.& he spent a lot of time asleep
in my lap,but he NEVER nipped again.
I've used that last resort since with total success....except for...
Mad Max.In his case I'd appreciate suggestions from other folks.
Ha.Ha.

It is normal playful cat behavior to try to bite. One of my three cats, although long past kitten stage, still does. I don't let her do so.

I would give it a chance. Has it gotten a surgery to make it not have babies? Maybe that is the problem. My cat acted funky too for a while before she had her surgery. Give her a chance to settle in. Good Luck!

It's just a stage they go through! Don't get rid of it, but discourage the behavior. Try ignoring him/her for a little while when he does this. He'll eventually get the message.
