Yes, some new TVs don't have stand by buttons, just use the off switch at the mains. Ironic isn't it, especially when they've been publicising on TV almost every other day about the power usage of standby mode!!!

Yeah mine does the same. The light comes on when it's off but goes off when it's on - bizarre isn't it. I suppose we're all supposed to turn everything off at the plug. It's impossible for us as we use Sky and I'm not going to record anything if it's all turned off and besides the plug is way behind the unit.... It's a shame that the manufacturer's don't think of these things when they make them isn't it.

Same answer as everyone else except I would like to add that the button to turn it off completely may actually be on the remote.

If it has a digital (HD) tuner, you better leave it plugged in, other wise all the HD channels will have to get reprogrammed when you power it on again. The standby voltage is used to keep certain memory circuits active.

You may find the button on the right side towards the bottom or on top. Mine has it towards the bottom on the right side and the yellow light stays on all the time.

My Toshiba's the same i have to switch of at the mains.
Stupid idea as on stand by it just wastes the TV and
uses expensive electric.
