I have had troubles with gaining weight and being able to keep it off. I have to have a sensible diet because I get major migraines so I limit my sugars and caffeine and don't use any sugar thats processed, even if it is lower in calories it can really affect your internal organs with all the poisons in them. I recently got one of those large rubber balls and sit on it to do my computer work and my stomach, legs and butt have never been nicer. I am also trying to do some yoga but I find the positions (even the beginner ones) rather difficult. But I do highly recommend it for the circulation, it really helps with your breathing/oxygen intake which makes me feel healthier. Theres also this new pill/drink out in the market, its pricey but it has shown some serious results. Its called AmeriScience if you interested. But the ball and the yoga, which are fairly inexpensive you can get them on amazon for under $40, i've lost 20 lbs in the past month and I know with the pills I am going to lose more.

Walking. Get a heart rate monitor that you can hold onto while you walk. This is very important for fat loss.

You need to find out your max heart rate, then while you excercise, stay within 65-70% of that throughout your workout.

Walk for at least an hour a day. You don't need to walk very fast to get to your target heart rate. This is the absolute best way to burn fat through excercise.

Follow each walk with some light stretching of legs, feet, back, then some weight-lifting: Do abs every day. Lift some light weights every other day. Building muscle might make you gain a few pounds to begin with because muscle retains water when it is being worked, but eventually, your added muscle will burn calories while you are just sitting at the computer....it will improve your metabolism as well.
Keep your calorie intake at around 1800 per day for 2 weeks (make sure it is low fat), then go a week eating about 2500 calories. Then go back to 2 weeks at 1800 calories per day, and one week at 2500. Keep repeating this until you reach your goal.

Make sure you raise your calories in that third week. You HAVE to do that, or else your metabolism will go into "shock" and slow down, because your body will think it is starving and try to start up its defense mechanism to keep your fat stored up .

If it is hard for you to restrict certain foods from your diet, keep them out for the first 2 weeks, but add them in during that 3rd week. Raising calories will jump-start your metabolism. You might even consider upping the pace of your walks a little during this time. It'll also help raise your metabolism. Just stay within the target heart rate.

My age is 40....my max heart rate is about 130. My target rate is at around 108. Not hard to reach!

try the eliptical, i love it its a good workout. Also, I know at my gym, and probably others, they have a 30 minute express workout which I like. There are 20 stations and you follow the timed light for each one. You work out everything. I do cardio and then that but every other station is a step which is good for the butt.
lunges are good - get some 5 lb weights and you can do that at home in front of the tv.

Top exercise for weight loss

There is no doubt that you can lose weight without exercise. But with exercising you can speed up the process of weight loss. Exercise mainly help you lose weight in the following ways:

* Burn more calories while exercising

* If you exercise for longer hours, you will be able to burn calories at an high rate for an extended period after you have completed your weight loss session.

* If the exercise places a high enough load on your muscles, they will increase in size, and burn more Calories even when your body is at rest.

This method is an important aspect of weight loss as it makes you to burn more calories at all tiles. Muscle tissue is more "metabolically active" than body fat. With more muscle and less fat, your metabolic rate is naturally higher.

Muscular variation occurs most readily when the load placed on a muscle exceeds about 60% of its maximum contractile strength. This makes weight training one of your best exercise choices, and the most direct path to a sleeker, shapelier body.

If you're new to exercise, walking is great (no matter age or size). Work up to 2 miles in 30 minutes (considered a brisk walk). A lot of people go for 3-4 miles of walking for "general health."

The latest videos I've tried and loved for calorie-burning and working the stomach/ gut is "Turbo Jam."

To burn fat, you can do ANYTHING you want that brings your heart rate up. For maxium efficiency, you want your heart rate in it's 65-85% max range to burn fat, which for your age is 130-170. You can jog, bike, run, skip rope, dance, swim, climb... as long as you get your heart rate up to 130 you will be getting a really good workout.

I would definately recommend STEP AEROBICS. This can help shape your legs and butt (bringing your knees up high to step up really works your butt). Spinning (which is cycling to music) is amazing. So is kickboxing. Pilates is a good core workout for your abs (though don't expect this alone to burn fat off your stomach, but it will make your stomach hard and sexy.. the results will becoming more noticable as your lose fat from your cardio).

You can do anything really. Whatever you do, make sure you switch up your routine every two weeks. This keeps your body from getting use to the same thing.

Jogging. All around good aerobic exercise, firms up abs, legs, shoulders and buns. Without aerobic exercise like jogging, cardio kickbox, biking, rollerblading, you won't lose weight, you'll just add muscle.

I'm afraid it's too late. My recommendations would only "maintain" your current weight status. Unless however, your body is resilient and good at resisting pain, then what you should do is walk 3 hours a day and do twenty minutes of a variety of ab exercises like crunches, and side bends.

whatever you like to do as long as you burn calories -- try walking for an hour 4 to 5 times per week -- just make sure you are watching what you eat as well -- you need to have a calorie deficit
