My husband was in the Air force for almost 7 years. Last year on October 5th my husband was medically discharged. For allergy induced asthma. We only found out, because he was getting ready to get sent over seas. This last year has been the hardest year of our lives. He told me that during his briefing, they said it may be like this. Has anyone else been through this? Does it get better? I dont know how to help him pull his life back together. I am still trying to stay sane for me and our child. It's been really hard. I love him very much, but feel that I cant go on like this. Any kind of advice would be so appreciated at this point. Thanks in advance!

I was mediaclly retired from the Army after 17 years of service. I was not ready to get out, nor was my wife ready for me too. After one year of separation we have learned there IS life after the Military, don't worry, just remember to support each other. It is hard to give up the benefits and for him the life style (Military is a life style, not a job). Time is all that is needed.

"Be like this" how, I don't understand what you mean by that part. If you mean he misses the military he can get a job on some post and still work closely with soldiers, it is not the same but most retired vets miss working around soldier and do these jobs. He can still work for and with the military just not as an airman anymore. Have him go to an ACAP center on post to get him started. If it is an emotional thing or family problem use the military programs, the air force used your husband so use the air force back, look into the ACS program.
