Well, it varies depending on several factors. Here's some info I have for when parallel to the ground.
.30-30: 1.75 miles 2.5 miles
.308: 2.5 miles 3.5 miles
.300 Savage: 2.5 miles 3.5 miles
.300 H&H: 2.5 miles 3.5 miles
.30-06: 3.25 miles 4.5 miles
The first distance is at sea level, the second is at 12,000 ft altitude.

Depends on what you shoot it out of. A 7.62x25 Tokarev will be nothing like the .308 Lazeroni (sp?) Warbird. There's gonna be a difference of many miles. At 45 degrees probably 10's of miles. On top of that it depends on how heavy the bullet is. The heavier it is, the further it's gonna go.

Maximum range isn't at 45 degrees, it's at more like 30. If anyone feels like telling me how obviously wrong I am then consider that drag is a square law and contemplate the effect that has.
Anyway, around 4,000 yards. A little more for hot cartridges with good ballistic coefficients.

Depends on how strong your trigger finger is, and how fast you pull the trigger. Also, how hard you grit your teeth. If you really want the bullet to go as far as possible, I'd suggest loud grunting when you pull the trigger. Also, which way you're facing, since the earth turns from east to west, the bullet will travel farther if you fire it toward the direction of the earth's rotation.

it'll travel as far as it can until it hits the ground....crist there is too much that can effect something as small as a 7.62mm bullet a slight breeze, twig, blade of grass will throw it all off course, my experaince with that round is I better not aim for anything over 150 yards...it'll go further but where will it go?

It depends on muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, sectional density, air pressure (altitude), temperature, wind, elevation and humidity.
What cartridge, ammo and firearm are you talking about?

It's kind of hard to say without knowing......7.62 x ????.
Plus, there are lots more varibles that are unknown...bullet weight, height of shooter from completely level ground, weapon it was fired from, barrel length, etc......
