Sure - as long as it isn't fruit cake.

Do you ever feel you are receiving re-gifted fruit cakes from 10 years back? Maybe there were only 100 made in the world and we all just keep passing them on.

You bet! Bring it on, I like to give and get baked things. In giving in the past I have found that a smaller amount with a good presentation is more successful that a whole pile o' cookies. Also, if there aren't that many, they won't get stale and they will go faster. Next year they'll be wondering "hmmm. I wonder if she's gonna bring over those _____ cookies again this year?" Also, people appreciate not getting another "thing" for the holidays -- consumables are sometimes preferred!

Oh yes myself included . I just told a friend who baked cookies, cakes, pies that it is a wonderful idea to give them for gifts. It is from the heart and I love homemade things like this.

I love to bake and stuff at this time of year, but I have stopped giving it out to anybody but my family. I found that the vast majority of people are too materialistic to appreciate it, and would have preferred a "present"; and those left over are germaphobes and they are afraid of eating anything made in somebody else's kitchen. Save your loving efforts for those you know will appreciate it, like your family and very closest friends.

I think many people do appreciate it. Anyone who cooks or bakes knows what it took for you to make your gifts & I think most people think it is a thoughtful gift.
I think that the gifts that are not appreciated are those that are not thoughtful & it took nothing but a trip to the store to get them, like gift cards. I think those show that you weren't worth thinking of a gift for, so here get your own.... I hate to receive them & I will NOT give them....

yes yes yes!!! anytime of year people like to receive baked goods! so yes, this time of year they do! the best way to give baked goods is completely out of the blue, and for no reason at all. just make a big batch of cookies or pies or whatever you were thinking of and drop them off at friends or neighbors, and give them for no other reason that you were thinking of that person and wanted to give them a snack. they'll love it!!

I LOVE them not only because 99%of the time they are great but just the fact that someone took the time to cook for me that is a sign of caring.

warm, baked goods around the holiday season are almost always welcomed, especially pies, cookies and sweet breads.

yes, yes, yes,,, it shows time and love went into the gift,,,, it's so easy to pick out a gift card, but baking or making something homemade is even better,,,,,,, i have a friend who sends me a cookie tray every year (because I moved away), and it just makes me so happy to know she cares enough to still send the cookies to me,,,, so yes, it is appreciated,,,, i can send you my address if you want to send me something,,,lol,,,, have a great Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..I know what you mean, it can get costly. You need to know who appreciates the fresh baked, and who doesn't.Whatever you do, don't give the fresh to somone who will only toss it.I for one know how good home-made is.They make a wonderful & thoughtful gift.My answer is yes it's worth it, to the one's that like them. You know them, I bet...Happy Holidays..........
