Well, I am a Republican, but I have to first say that George W's views on ILLEGAL immigration aren't exactly republican...
The Republican view is : No health care, no voting rights, no education, no welfare, no jobs, no housing. If there is nothing for them to get in America, they won't come!!!
However, the liberals want them to have "rights" to all of this stuff.
Barak Obama even started a resolution to not ask for ID's at the voting booths!!!

I support the House's enforcement only bill over the Senate's comprehensive plan. The Senate's bill promises enforcement but also wants to give away the farm. The amnesty bill of 1986 provided amnesty and promised enforcement. All we got was 3 million new citizens that were rewarded for breaking the law and 20 million more illegals that took the 1986 bill as an open invitation to jump the border. Now 20 years later the Senate wants to do the SAME thing. The American people are not that stupid. We know that despite the get tough rhetoric, all we will get out of the senate's plan is the amnesty which the MAJORITY of Americans do NOT want. The Government can NOT be trusted to live up to their promise.
With the House plan there is nothing to lose. The absolute worst that could happen is that they won't enforce that either, in which case status quo.
The actual fact is we do not need a new plan. the old plan would work but you have to enforce it...duh

I don't think there's exactly a republican view or democrat view. Maybe one from one party or the other will write up a bill but it seems split on both sides as to which is the best avenue to follow. Bush may be republican but he's pandering to the democrats for his guest worker deal. But not all democrats agree with it either. Just like all republicans don't agree with enforce the laws. I want enforce the law and I don't care which side pushes for that.

I don't agree with either side as a whole. Obama wants to prevent voter ID which would make it even easier for illegals to have voting power. Bush wants amnesty which as proven by Reagan's same mistake encourages more of the same problem. McCain would like to give amnesty and benefits to illegals. My view is very simply that the laws on the books are correct and well thought out so why not start by enforcing those. After enforcing the laws on the if there is still a problem address it as needed.

I have always said that I'm pro immigration, but we do need to stem the flow of illegals if only for security reasons.
When your water pipes are broken, you don't worry about the water on the floor, you stop more coming in. Neither plan is realistic. We need to stop the influx of new illegals before we worry about the ones already here.
If it takes building a new great wall, that's what we must do. I say amnesty and militarize the border.

I don't agree with either one of them. The system we currently have in place to deal with immigration (both legal and illegal) is clearly not working and needs a major bipartisan overhaul.

Republicans seem to be harder. It's a shame that Bush and his stupid war in Iraq, make them to lose the elections.
