It would be cool if we had the original hebrew text kept in the temple.

The Septuagint is simply a Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures. A translation cannot be more reliable than its source (like making a photocopy of a document, the copy is never truer than its source) so the Hebrew text must be more reliable.

there's a distinction in age, the Septuagint is older because the Masoretic Bible regarded in the7th to 10th century because the Cannon of the Masoretes sect of Judaism. i have self belief the list of books is an identical because the Pharisaical Canon of Jamnia in ninety ad which became the first unified Canon of the Jews. The Christian Church used the Septuagint because it is the Bible used and quoted by using Jesus and the recent testomony biblical authors. both the Septuagint and the Masoretic texts are used for present day translations by using Protestants and Catholics.
