our dog ate something, not sure what, and it is causing his liver and pancreas to fail, he may die, he may not, they have him on IV and antibiotics. Has anyone gone through this with a dog before? What happened?

He ate something at a Christmas party. It may have been chocolate but I read that he had to double their weight in ounces in order for it to harm them. He weighs 20 pounds so if that were true he woul dhave had to have eaten 40 ounces of it. There was no evidence or remains of what he ate. He was not poisoned though. I was guessing he ate shrimp, can that have a bad effect on dogs systems?

My brother-in-law's dog Curley, ate a big chunk of hoof trimmings after the farrier shod Jake the ranch horse, and that killed him. Curley, not Jake.

Sounds like your poor dog has an altogether different problem, though, and you've done everything you can. Could he have gotten into warfarin rat poison, or bitrex? Or transmission fluid or antifreeze? Evidently these seem tasty to a dog and they are very poisonous. Hope your puppy gets well!

My neighbours dog found some slabs of chocolate in the cupboard and ate it all. The dog almost died. Chocolate, even in small quantities, is poisonous for a dog.

My dog ate rat poison once, but he's still alive and well. My other dog has also gotten hit by a car, and survived (though he was pained for months afterwards). He just has scratches/bruises. My dogs are fortunate.

it might have been poisoned. my step sister had that happen to her dog. someone threw something over the fence to him and they came home to him having seizures and then everything just started shutting down and they found out someone had poisoned the dog. it had to be put to sleep.

did he get chocolate? or a plant? some plants are really toxic to animals (like pointsettas)

*fingers crossed* for your pooch. good luck hun.
