To soften hard brown sugar, place an open bag of sugar in the microwave with a cup of water next to it. Microwave on high (100%) for 2-3 minutes. If your microwave doesn't have a carousel, turn the bag after each minute.

NOTE: This worked great, but isn't a permanent fix. Any unused sugar will dry up again. However, the process can be repeated each time you need sugar.

I had several old boxes of brown sugar that could have been used as replacement bricks for our house. I peeled off the box and wrapper and put them in a zip lock bag with a couple of slices of apple. The next day ALL of the sugar was as soft as if I had just purchased it. Bonus, the apple slices were delicious to eat.

Oh, the sugar stayed soft until I had used it all - a couple of months later.

even if it truly is purely stuck demanding like a brick, fall down, hit, do what it takes to interrupt some off, get about how a lot you'll choose immediately, and put in a dish and microwave for extra or less 15 seconds, keep repeating till mushy. Use it with out delay it truly is going to reharden. Any spots taht seem darker virtually moist, I purely toss those, even with the actual incontrovertible reality that they could melt also. I purely did this for the first time the different nighttime and it worked positive!

A slice of soft bread placed in the package of hardened brown sugar will soften it again in a couple of hours.

Squeeze the bag til the sugar starts to break up or just by a new bag, and next time, keep the top of it closed.

the theory is if you put it in a bowl and place a couple of slices of apples in it and place it in the microwave for short intervals it should soften.

let it sit out for a day or a few hours and it will soften up! or you can try putting a loaf of bread on top of it, because the moisture of the bread will soften it!
