Just come out with it. You see, one of the things you need to understand is that you have epilepsy but it doesn't have you. You can't let it control your life like that ... any friend will understand and appreciate the confidence.

My mother is an epileptic. She's doing great.

You shouldn't have to worry about "how" you tell a friend you have epilepsy. That's not something to be ashamed of, it's a health problem. A true friend will always be a true friend, and the rest of the world just doesn't matter. You're a person. Your no different from the rest.

Please don't let a "friend" determine how you accept yourself, OK? If they love you, it won't be any different than telling them about other aspects of your life. I have friends who are very critical of my behavior, habits, health issues, you name it. We have our say, and go on being friends.
I have relatives that don't care anywhere near as much about me as one or two of my good friends do.
Don't take life so seriously, it's not permanent.
