Ask yourself,,,Do you really wanna move on?.I would not break up with him for my parents,but i would only for myself.I suggest you to talk about his good qualities with your parents and convince them.I know its easy said than done.But,Remember,they are your parents and they will like him for you only if you put your best efforts to convince them.
This above advice is applicable only if you are 18 and above.Otherwise,i suggest you to go with your parents decision.

Talk to this person and let him know in no uncertain terms that you are through and do not want him to contact you anymore. It might be hard if you loved him, but still tell him because it will be better for both of you in the long run. If he continues to bother you, just say you will contact the police for harassment.

change your phone number and email address. rip up letters that may come in the mail before looking at them. tell your friends to not pass messages on to you from him. Move if you have to. report him to the cops for stalking if you have to. get a restraining order...
you can do it. you gotta make up your mind and DO IT. that's all...
or
go back to him and tell your parents you are an adult and make your own decisions now... and if you mess up then it's all your own fault. but to not be able to make mistakes will never get you anywhere in life.

If you are legal age you need to make your own decisions, if you don't want him in your life, tell him to get lost, if he won't call the police. If you are underage probably best to listen to your parents. Why do your parents hate him?
