I hear that it works very well but there is a catch. What they don't tell you on the commercial is that there are all these extra things you have to do like what not to eat. So it is not as easy as just putting it on and it magically working.

There is a natural astringent sold in pharmacies and grocery stores called "Witch Hazel" or "Hammelis Water". It cleans up the oils on your face without drying it out too bad - a lot of products today dry the skin and make the problem worse. It comes in a bottle just like rubbing alcohol, and should cost less than a dollar. Wash your face with gentle soap and water, and then wet a cotton ball with the witch hazel, and wipe down your face. A good soap is Liquid Neutrogena, but only use a LITTLE bit, and make foam in your hands before you put it on your face. If your skin is oily, you probably won't have to moisturize, but if you do, make sure to get something good (expect to pay for the quality). If it is very severe, you can go to a doctor and explain your problem. It may be that there are deeper problems, such as a chemical or hormonal imbalance, and they might be able to help you figure it out.

Slap a celebrity face on anything and it flys off the shelf. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist first. I asked mine about this product before I used it and he said that it could work for some, but it would be hard to use a product from someone who doesnt know your skin condition. You may have something other than acne. I ended up having rosacea and if I tried Pro active, I would have burned my skin so badly. Definately research with a doctor. They have the best knowledge for acne conditions. Good Luck!

Listen to me I can help you. I tried proactive helped a lil then went back to bad again for me. But give any routine at least 6-8 wks to work or not work.

TIPS:
-drink 8 glasses of h2o a day
-wash your face twice a day w/LUKEWARM h2o
-take a multi-vitamin w/o iodine and 50mg zinc
-keep your hands OFF YOUR FACE that goes for your hair too.
-DON'T PICK! if you pop a pimple, and its not ready, you can do more damage and it can scar. But...if you do have to and its ready, wrap your fingers in clean tissue and press DOWN on either side of the zit, not inward.
-use clean white PAPERTOWEL each time you wash face to pat dry...or use a clean washcloth EACH time u wash but don't use fragrance in your laundry soap/dryer sheets especially for your washcloths and pillowcases!! Use cheer free or baby detergent.

From my experience, Pro Active makes cyctic acne worse. Go see a dermatologist. Nothing over the counter really workes for cyctic acne. If you don't get it treated you will get scars.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
