It is a major surgery and takes more time to heal. I had a c-section and where they made the incision is still numb in places.

I think c-sections should only be performed when necessary. However, having said that, I have had two and got along just fine with both. My daughter just had one 2 months, because of the size of the baby, and was unable to deliver naturally. She said she would not be afraid to have another one. Of course, you are sore after all it is surgery. She had an epidural and was awake during the surgery, saw the baby being born, and was able to breastfeed right away. Hopefully you will be successful at having a natural delivery, but if you do have to have a c-section, be assured that you will be fine. One very important suggestion from someone who has had one, get up a move around as soon as possible. This will get you back on your feet sooner so you can have a quicker recovery, and be able to take care of your baby. In the end no matter which way you have your baby, it will all be worth it in the end when you see your child. Good luck!

A Cesarean section is considered major surgery since all the layers of your abdomen and uterus must have an incision made in them to get the baby out. This is considerable more damage to your body than most vaginal deliveries. Depending on the situation and your doctor, you may have an episiotomy which is an incision made to help prevent tearing. Some doctors prefer to let nature take it's course and repair any tearing that may occur. Not all vaginal births require an episiotomy nor do all vaginal births result in tearing if no episiotomy is made. There are many more risks involved with a c-section such as risk of infection in the incision, clotting, more postpartum pain, and longer hospital stays. A c-section is not generally recommended by most doctors without a medical condition that requires one or an emergency situation.

I had two C-sections and no natural births. I have a scar right at the bikini line which has never bothered me. The first 12 hours after the birth had some pain to it, but not so that it was a big deal. Otherwise, I can't think of any damage my C-sections caused. I know a number of women who lost some bladder control and are sporadically incontinent after natural birth.

NOOOOO-It does a lot more damage to the body having a c-section. The Dr. has to cut the stomach muscles, it turn taking a lot longer to heal. That's why if you give birth naturally, they let you go home the next day as apposed to if you have a c-section they keep you for like a week. Also it only takes about 6 weeks to fully heal from natural birth, as where it takes like 3 months for c-section mothers

Well considering that natural birth is NATURAL and they cut you open for a c-section, I am going to say NO,
but that being said, I always heard that healing from a c-section is much harder than a natural birth, but when I had my son by c-section the recovery was no big deal... I didn't even take any pain meds besides tylenol, so I think it depends on the woman.
I also only had to stay in the hospital for 2 1/2 days after they performed my cesarean.... I had my son on a Wed night, and they released me Sat. morning....then I got to go home.
But a cesarean is the only thing I've experienced so I have nothing to compare it to.

I had a c-section on 25th November due to placenta previa and delivered an 8 week early baby boy.Although I never used pain killers after it was not the most comfortable thing I have ever been through. In fact I would choose natural child birth anyday.I am not allowed to drive, vacumm, hang washing etc for 6 weeks and I have to wear the most unattrective surgical stockings to prevent clots.I had drips in,was given countless needles not to mention the catheta and am having trouble expressing milk making me feel terrible emotionaly. So not only does it damage a womans body but her mind too.

C-sections take like 6-8 weeks before you are back to normal. You'll probably be in the hospital for 4-5 days after surgery. If you have natural childbirth you could go home the next day, without much recovery time at all.

I've had three successful c-sections. All three were done because of fibroid tumours that I had. None were very painful and healed within 6 weeks....at around 3 weeks the pain was pretty much gone. I also just used regular Tylenol for pain. My friend is still traumatized the tearing she experienced in her 3 vag. births. She says she will never be the same again down there.

No. Cesarean section is incision through the abdominal wall and the uterus (abdominal hysterotomy) for extraction of the fetus.
Denoting a cesarean section, which was included under lex cesarea, Roman law (715 B.C.); not because performed at the birth of Julius Caesar (100 B.C.)
