I don't know if they're still around or not, but they were popular in the mid to late 1990s. On the front of the T-shirt, there was usually a pocket logo that said "No Fear" written in a design. On the back, there was a saying of some kind. Some of the sayings I remember are "A Life Lived in Fear is a Life Half Lived" and "It's Not Who You Know, but Who Knows You." Another one was "You Miss 100% of the Shots You Don't Take."
Anyway, back then, someone told me that those shirts were sinful because they advocated having no fear, and you're supposed to have fear of God in your life.
Does anyone agree with this? Why or why not?
I'm not advocating either side of this, either. I'm just asking to get people's thoughts.

Certainly NOT!! First, you must remember not to believe everyone tells you and if you become skeptical.... look it up. In this case, We are talking about a Bible reader who misinterprets the scripture and, sadly, this happens every day. The scripture also says that 'God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind'. The scripture never contradicts itself... yet it's those who read it and misinterpret it. God teaches men/women to not fear anyone else but HIM. This makes sense due to the simple fact that if one is to be the authority of a person's life... they are to be feared in a good way as an act of respect and reverance. Hope this helps!

That's just silly!
I always liked the message of those shirts, especially the "A life lived in fear is a life half lived". It's true. If people were afraid to try new things and go with new ideals where would the human race be today????
Why wouldn't God want you to step outside your comfort zone?

As a matter of fact I owned several of those "No Fear" t-shirts. I do not think they are sinful at all. Somebody somewhere always tries to start some stupid crap about the stupidest things. I would still wear those if I could find some new ones. I thought they were cool.

there are still many of these shirts around, i was in shopko the other day and bought one that says no fear on the front and then on the back has hands on the back holding some balls and it says "You will be needing a pair of these" I laughed and ofcourse i bought the shirt. I dont think these shirts are sinful or any form of sin they are just a shirt that says no fear on them and people especially church goers have problems with these tees

If you were to have "fear of God in your life," wouldn't that make you an atheist?
The fear something is to avert it.
Why would I avert God?
Unbelievable, to trust that which you fear,
to fear that which is all-loving.
Anyhow, there will always be people who find sin in anything they want. Self-righteous Pessimists, they're called.
Oh, and for the record, I thought the No Fear T-shirts were lame, but that's only my opinion.

I not only remember them, but I owned five of those shirts. I also had a paisley print shirt. They were indeed a symbol that couples were going steady. That's funny about the subject of your "book review panel." ~lol~

I don't agree with that at all. I don't believe in a God that requires fear as a prerequisite for "His" approval. Motivation for believe is predicated on love not fear.
No fear is a good idea.

They're just T-shirts with the "No Fear" logo. There's nothing to be read into it.

You shouldn't fear god, you should follow in his teachings out of respect and love.
