This is a way of thinking that was conditioned by the white man when there was still slavery. The "house servants" were always lighter skinned, and the white man basically beat it into the slaves that the lighter the color, the better you were.
This way of thinking still exists today. I think they should think the opposite. If you are darker skin, then it means you are more pure blood than the lighter skinned blacks. Regardless of skin color, you should be proud of who you are. Have no doubts where your way of thinking came from. It was beaten in to the black slaves by the white man.

Well let me tell you first of all - I am a light skinned Black Woman. I really hate the term redbone because it is insulting just like calling a dark skinned person blackie or something to that effect.
If you prefer lightskinned women - that is fine but if you only will date lightskinned women - I can see someone making the comment to you that you are color struck.
You cannot control who or what you are attracted to or fall in love with. Just know this - Black is Black no matter which way you slice it Light, Medium or Dark - we are all beautiful Black Women so don't limit yourself.

There isn't anything wrong with a preference. We can't help who we like. I actually have a preference to Hispanic men, but I've never let that limit my options. In fact, my current boyfriend is white, and I couldn't love him more. You have to understand, that the issue of light and dark skinned blacks goes back a long way. Light skinned blacks were viewed as prettier because their complexion is closer to whites. Back in slavery times, a lot of children born of slaves and their masters were often the ones who were allowed to work indoors as servants as opposed to being in the field. Also many of them were born with skin light enough and they were able to pass themselves off as white. Its a touchy subject. But just be you. And live your life as you want. Don't worry about what other people believe or think.

I don't know why the h*ll I'm answering this since I'm so white I'm about trasparent! But, I think that's a pretty stupid concept too. People like what they like. If you like light skinned black women than good for you......no body has anything to say about men who prefer blondes over brunettes or thick women over thin. This isn't any different.

there are lots of people that like lighter skinned black women, the problem is that you are just looking at color and you are not looking at the person as a whole. We are all brainwashed to believe that the lighter you are, the better you are. Its a shame. This is not an issue of preferrence, its not about hair color or breast size.its an issue that goes beyond that.

I believe that the color of skin is no different than hair color. I like brunettes I also like white (slightly tan) women. If I see a Blondie and brunette together I'm more likely to talk to the brunette first.
just a preference,

Its called preferences, we all have them an we're all entitled to them.
Those who wish to impose their views/beliefs on others should get a life and stop being jealous because they're not getting anything
PS: Sax M, please take your bigoted point of view and flush it down the toilet as that is where it belongs, not here
