Well, it is not the best solution, but it is the best we have right now.
If we could get rid of parole, and stop molesters and murderers from walking the streets, then I would agree with getting rid of the death penalty.
But until then, we need to keep it so we do not have violent criminals on the streets.
One child getting molested by someone out of jail on parole is too many!!!!!

My view on capital punishment is that it should be in place. An 'eye for an eye' as they say. Yet, I also believe that it is not the most effective course of action for every case. Their are several cases in which life in prison would suffice. These are the people that seek redemption, are regretful of their crimes, or people who you know will regret what they've done later in life..knowing that killing them would be merciful and not at all what they would deem an appropriate punishment. A punishment is supposed to be harsh not merciful. Then again those that should receive capital punishment are those who are not at all regretful of what they did maybe even being proud of their actions, people who fear death and think it's the worst possible punishment, etc. These are my views on capital punishment.

I strongly oppose capital punishment. I don't believe in a life for a life. I think ocassionally the wrong person is convicted and executed. Plus, even if guilty beyond any doubt whatsoever, what gives us the right to kill someone? It makes us no better than the murderer. I have been a victim of violent crime. Punishment and having to live with what they've done is good enough for me. Just don't ever let them out in society again to harm or kill again.

I think it's wrong, because for one thing we're not alway 100% sure that the person being sentenced is truly guilty. I always read about a DNA mistake, or crooked police. But let's say that a person really is guilty, what does killing them do other than make us more like the killers we claim we abhor? Killing someone in self-defense is a different story from when someone is caught and captured, so you can't make a similar argument for self-defense. Long story , short: It's wrong. It's not a necessary evil, it's just evil.

I am for capital punishment. I don't believe that anybody who commits a crime so heinous should live. the crime should have enough evidence of course. child molesters should live though, with no sexual organs. rapists as well. they should be stoned in public, but murderers, especially serial killers, should just be killed on the spot. no questions, no trials. forget that. if they are found to be innocent, well, might as well send the family's children to college becuase of that mistake because you can't really take that back

i think that unless someone is posing as an immediate threat to you, it is never ethical to kill another person. if someone does a horrible act, they should be locked away as cheaply and as efficiently as possible.
i also have a problem when the government forcibly take money from people (taxes) and use that money to fund the execution of an individual. because even if you vehemently disagree with capital punishment, you are still part of the process, and that is very wrong to me.

I feel that it would be a good thing if the United States had Capital Punisment. Look at china for example, they're crime rate is extremely low compared to U.S. People learn there that crime doesnt pay after a hanging.

My personal feelings are that if a person kills someone in a torturous way, then that's the way they should have to die as well. Why should the murderer be able to die in a peaceful way, when the victim had to endure a slow torturous death. But since we can`t do unto the murderer as they did to their victims. The next best thing is to make them suffer the rest of their life by being in prison without the possibility of parole.

I'm all for it! An Eye For An Eye A Tooth For A Tooth!!! You kill some one you should get what you deserve. If you rape or molest someone you've taken their life from them even thou their alive they will never live a completely normal life! Their are people out there that just can't be "fixed" !

Capital punishment is not a punishment. if you execute someone, you set them free.he will be dead. un aware of his punishment.
if someone does a violent crime, the best punishment is to let him / her suffer with life in prison. just a 10x10 cell. no contact with others , no tv.no books, just water and rice for food.just sit there and reflect.
