I am so touched by your question....so few people try to do things to help keep the family strong these days....Like Pinkie & the Brain said up above....Dinners together with no tv is great.... it makes you talk to eachother.... This keeps people involved....

Also, game night is an excellent idea....

Good Luck and I commend you for wanting to keep your family unit strong!

Anything that involves you whole family-no friends. Everyone has to stay home that night. You could do something different every week, or stick to one thing like movies or games. Also VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! Eat dinner AT THE TABLE Every night!!!! It gives you a chance to bond as a family at the end of a busy day. And for some reason???? it's been known to help a child feel emotionally stable (who knew????)

We like to do non pressure things at my house where everyone is free to have an open mind and express themselves without fear of ridicule.

1 example is Monday movie night. Once a month we get together and watch some old movie movie such as Old Yellow and we spend half the time watching and half the time making fun of how silly the old movies are.Everyone is equal during these get togethers youngest kid can make fun of things in the move same as mom and dad.

Another fun thing to do is go hang at the mall at people watch. We like to make up things about the people that pass by and share with each other the crazy stuff we come up with. The only rule is nothing hateful and you have to speak low enough so they can't hear you.

Just doing an activies together will keep your family close. Eating dinner together and sharing your day is a good start. Then there are the fun things...you could do crafts together (my kids used to love that). Last week, we all made paper snowflakes together and taped them all over the windows. Take a small roadtrip on the weekends, to a petting zoo, or apple picking. Now that winter is here, build a snowman together. Or try baking together, or creating an entire meal together.

Make sure you do family activities. It can be as simple as going to the park for a picnic together or family vacations. At my house we have a family movie night where we gather around and pop popcorn and watch a movie and we have family game night. Play cards, candyland, whatever is age appropriate. Most importantly make sure you have family dinners together. I don't think many people do that anymore with all the activities going on but it's important to sit as a family and discuss what is going on in everyone's life. And start your dinner with blessings.

What my family and I do is we go pick out a few movies together.
Go home make pizza and hot wings together. Eat dinner and watch movies.
Then popcorn. It doesn't take much to bond. something as simple as fixing a bowl of cereal together could bring closeness. Just remember to do it together.

If the family lives together:
Doing things together.
Take turns on who's ideas you use.
One outing might be Heather's idea. The next could be Nic's idea and so on and so on.
When they feel like they planned it or it's what they wanna do this time, they'll be open to share and other things will come in to play.
Communication helps, too.
