You don't say where on the neck, but small hard lumps in the neck that you can't move around easily are usually a swollen lymph node. Ones that move around are cysts. You don't say how old you are, but once you get to a certain age you start to get them.
You should see your Doctor for both. When you get an interal cyst without a head a lot of people call them bible cysts or crush-em cysts. But even though 99 percent of the time taking care of it your self can spread infection. If it's a lymph node then you have definetly have to have it treated by a Doctor. If your worried that it may be something worse the odds are heavily in favor that it isn't.
I get them all the time and I have the Doctor treat lumps on the neck just because it isn't worth taking the chance if it's a swollen lymph node and not a cyst.

most likely it is a swollen lymph node. If you have had a cold or sinus infection/drainage then it may have caused you to have swollen glands in your neck. Wait 3-5 days and see if it has changed in size. if it has gotten bigger or stayed the same size GO TO THE DR! if it shrank or went away completely then don't worry about it. only about 1-3% of lumps are actually cancer or a serious problem.

In most cases, lumps can be anything from a cyct to a fatty tumor to cancer to a calcium deposit. But when it is in your neck, I would waste no time getting to the doctor. That is not an area of you body that you want to fool around with as your carotid artery is there. If anything godforbid happend, it would happen very quickly. I urge you to go to a doctor and have it taken care of before it's too late. Please go now!

Absolutely. It could be time to see your doctor. I'm sure you'd notice if your brain slipped down the side of your head into your neck. Don't worry, it's probably just a cyst. Off you go.

A swollen gland more than likely.
I had one three weeks ago just under my left ear.
It was a little sore for a few days but it went away.
In my case,It was from an aggravated molar.

Depends how long it's been there, and whether or not it has changed in size.
Could be as simple as a lipoma (a fatty deposity) or something more serious.
If your concerned see a doc.
