Depends on your budget.
Having been both a teacher and a bus driver (bus driver first) I've gotten cards, candy canes, and homemmade cookies. And bath soaps once as a bus driver. OH, and a box of chocolates - just a small one.
I would say if you feel you need to give a gift, then do a homemade treat, a small box of candy, gift cards to a local major store (though I hate the gift card idea myself); if you know them well, then get them something specific based on their interests, but keep the cost to under $10 if on a tight budget, under $20 otherwise.

Teachers usually enjoy any gift that one of their students give them. As far as the bus driver, mailman and paper deliverer, boxed chocolates work best. If you know your hairstylist pretty well, then get them something that suits their tastes or lifestyle.

If you know them well enough to have some idea what they like, then go for that. Unless they're diabetic you can almost never go wrong with baked goods or chocolate. A nice coffee and mug set might be a good touch, especially for people who have to get up really early in the morning to do their job.
For the non edibles, if you know what kind of smell they like, an assorted soap basket is often appreciated, especially among women.
Gift certificates really are a nice touch. Especially if you don't make a lot of money, recieving even a small one means that's something you didn't have to pay for.
Oh, and please, unless you know theyre into that, don't give a teacher apple stuff. I guarantee that especially if they teach elementary, their house is overflowing with it already.

A really easy casual gift is just to bake some cookies or brownies and just package them up in little bags or wrap them with two/three a piece. Some kids at my school give the teachers little $5 Starbucks gift cards. You might want to make sure they celebrate Christmas, although they probably wouldn't mind even if they were Jewish or Muslim.

My third grade instructor became so in love with this one woman in my classification. Sally became her call, and my stupid instructor had to bypass and phone her cat AND her infant Sally. and you comprehend what she stated? "My boyfriend in simple terms likes the call." i will under no circumstances forget her or Sally. Or how I have been given Sally's 2 close pals to experience jealous and forget approximately her for something of the 12 months, hehe. My mailman might win palms down, the 1st reason being that my instructor may be too busy watching her life length decrease out of little third grade Sally. the different reason being that my mailman (or woman) is thoroughly invisible. I swear i could take a seat in front of my homestead all day next Monday and that i does not see one single mail truck force by. And on the tip of that day i could discover my mail the place it would possibly be. it extremely is ability perfect there, and that variety of ability constantly accompanies intense combating skills.

Instead of giving gifts to people that rarely even know your name, why not give the money to the poor or some organization that makes the world a better place.
Chances are anything you get the people on your list will be soon forgotten and not really charished at all. If you feed someone that would otherwise go hungry, they'll most likely never forget it.

I am a customer of my hair stylist and tip her generously all year long. I have been with her 6 years, it would be nice if at least once a year I could get a free "condition."
My mailman is a lazy idiot - he gets nothing.
My UPS man is awesome and he's getting a nice bottle of liquer. :)
