I was in charge of the stockade when I was a Master Sergeant, before I retired. The military jail was harder then bootcamp. You have no rank, you do all of the crap details on the base. You march to eat, you march to chapel, you go to bed a 9:00 P.M. after inspection. You get up at 4:30. Stand inspection, go to eat, go to details, come back, stand inspection and so on all day. You have forfeited any rights you may have thought you have. You get out of line or act up you go into confinement in an 8x8 cell. You get tough, you go into confinement. You do not talk, you do not read, you do not get on the bed, you have no television, no games. You are in jail for a reason, it is not a vacation. Seems to work, I never saw a repeat offender.

I agree with Jim and the Rock. I was an army MP and i am currently a civilian cop. Army jail is tougher than most civilian jails. No rank, details all day, march around everywhere you go. Attitudes and screwing around are not tolerated. You won't find guys playing ping pong and watching soaps in a military jail thats for dam sure.

A military jail is lots tougher than a civillian jail. You do not have TV, computers, exercise equipment and all that good stuff that
they have in a civillian prison or jail. There is no rank in the military jail. You have work details that you will do and that is not
easy tasks. You do exercises and no marching except to your
work areas.

Im sure it's worse. I mean regular jail has weight rooms, Cable TV and computer access. Even felons can go to college free while taxpayers foot the bill. I'm also sure the meals are better in regular jail. The ACLU sees to it that the prisoners in jail are comfy and cared for. Military jails are off limits to ACLU.

Military jails are far more strict than civilian ones. But because they are more strict they are cleaner and safer to be in, as an inmate anyways. I've seen a civilian jail in north New Jersey that the, 25 year veteran, cop said he'd never seen a dump like that before.

My boyfriend is in the Navy and when I inquired one day about military prison he said "Oh, thats where they make big rocks into little rocks all day long, literally." So, based on that one would assume that military jail is far worse than civilian jail.

I think that military jail would be worse. The disgrace of being in there, I don't even know. I have never been to jail, but to being eff up enough to land in a jail as a soldier going from one uniform to the next, I'd think would be a failure.

I think military jails are a lot stricter and they serve bread and water to eat only , for real.
