my kitten wont stop whining, crying or just plain talking. He's about 8 months old now, in great health, he's been neutered, declawed, the whole nine yards! I play with him for a few minutes in the morning and a long time when i get home at night, but if we stop paying attention to him or dont talk to him at all times he whines, screams and cries as if he's neglected. Sometimes i swear he just does it to hear himself. What can i do to teach him to be a little more quiet. I love his crazy talkitivness and personality but its like a crying baby...help?

You should try buying him a gold fish to look at all day. It worked for my sisters cat. She just stairs at the bowl and watchs the fish when she is bored.

Siamese cats are known to be more vocal than other breeds. They can be extremely loud, and sometimes it sounds like your cat is in absolute torment, when in fact he's just trying to make a point. It's not uncommon for people on the other end of the phone to ask if there is a baby crying. Some are non-stop talkers, while others don't talk unless they have something important to say. Most owners carry on conversations with them. They will listen and comment sometimes loudly back. The voice and conversational style is apparent from kitten-hood, so you'll know what you're getting into.
Siamese may become attached to one member of the household and take separation very hard; try to give him a great deal of attention he demands at the moment. Try to interpret his posture; the more you interact with him, the more you'll understand him.

Maybe adopt another kitten. He may miss the hamster. Animals sense when a human is sad or when something isn't right. So possibly if you get him a playmate during the times you can't play with him or at work or soemthing like that, the meowing may calm down. Some kittens are just needy and want the constant attention. I bought my kitten, Lucky, a lot of toys and tunnels and stuff for her to play with. The only time she meows is when she is hyper or missing me or when I hold her for more than a minute.

Is it a Siamese? LOL I had a cat just like that and it's a breed trait. I'm sure there are other breeds that are loud too. People used to think that there was a baby crying at my house when I was on the phone!! I was never successful at teaching her to be any quieter. I think some cats are just loud, demanding and needy like that! It does give them a lot of personality doesn't it? Sorry I don't have any suggestions, I just felt like sharing! lol

I know how you feel. My male cat is the same way, he is also neutered and declawed. He gets this "war cry" sound going when he is feeling ornery. It is very annoying at 3 in the morning. He also does it when he is ready to attack my calico or when he wants me to feed him. Cats are just weird sometimes. Hopefully he will get better as he grows up. Mine was really bad we he was a kitten but now he 2yrs and is somewhat better. It is about every other day instead of every day 20 times a day. Good luck

Oh lord honey, welcome to the world of Siamese! My Siamese "Genghis" is about 5 months old now, and WOW. He meows about everything! They are talkers. Also something about their personality is that they need almost constant entertainment. So yes, getting a new hamster would be a good idea. A fish is good too. Genghis loves to watch Jacques, the Betta fish, swim around. Lazer pointers are also an excellent source of entertainment for both you and the cat! Just be careful!

hey, I answered the other question on this. He sure sounds vocal. Its a good idea to rotate your kitty's toys, this gives the variety and keeps them pretty busy. At this age he should be able to react to catnip, try some of this. He sounds pretty needy, but some cats are more vocal than others--like siamese.

some cats do have this meawing habbit... Usually when they r thirsty. Be sure to make water available for her all the time
The next reason is when they see their owner after a long time, at such time u must rush towards them & cuddle, they will keep quiet....
