does anybody know why sometimes dogs eyes are red?

My boxer (she is 1 1/2) her eyes get red when she is excited or upset about something. but that is the only time.

Our you saying when a picture is taken? Or when the light hits blue eyes just right? This is the only time I have seen dogs with red eyes.
If around the eye is red this could be red eye. It is a virus that can spread to humans too. The dog could have been scratched in the eye. Or have another's tail hit the dog there.
