Atheism is a lack of belief in a god.

It means that you don't believe that there is no God. That everything is matter and not spirit.
It does NOT mean that you have no morality. In France, where I come from, a lot of people are atheists but because it's a Christian country, we have Christian morals. And we follow the law, which is based on Christian morals for most part (don't kill, don't steal, etc.).
Basically, we don't think that human beings as a whole is not THAT important, although we still think that our mother, our family, our friends, the little boy crying because his father (who might also be a Christian, by the way) raped him, etc. are important. We think (well, most think, I suppose) that we are responsible for our acts, and that we shouldn't do bad on earth here because we are all equal and we only live once.
We also think that we are just animal, except we have a brain and it seems a pity that a lot of people on earth don't seem to be using it very often.

Buddhism is usually considered a form of atheism (because they have no God), which shows that you can be an atheist and still seek spirituality (which encompasses, sometimes, religion).

if it's what i'm thinking it is when somebody doesn't believe in any kind of god or anything. they just think when they die it's over.
