Yeah, you're not suppose to wash it everyday. I've never heard of it making it more oily... but it can also dry your scalp and skin out. You do have oils in your scalp, but what makes it worse is the oils you pick up on a dirty pillow or putting your fingers through your hair. Hair is easier to handle when its not newly washed. Thats why when stylists are doing updos for wedding, we ask them to not wash their hair that morning. When you dont wash your hair as much its more natural, the oils come out, and its used to the weather and atmosphere so it will usually work with you if your doing your hair. I dont wash my hair everday. I know people that wont wash it for a week and their hair doesnt look greasy or anything. My gets greasy after a few days when I washed it. I mean it sounds gross, but its true. I've never showered everyday, and I dont plan on it.

I wash my hair every third day. I wash, blowdry, then straighten. Takes me about an hour, because i have long thick hair. I don't have a problem with oily hair, it does get a little "worn" looking after the second day, but that's when the good oils come out to nourish it.
It also depends on what your job is like too, or your daily environment. If you work at a dirty job, then it's gross not to wash it every day. But if your workplace is fairly clean, I don't see why not doing it every day would be a problem.
I guess you would have to factor in exercise too. If you do a heavy workout and your head (like mine) gets all sweaty, then you don't want to be walking around with dried sweat in your hair. ewwwwwwwwwwww
Toodles!

I think that washing your hair every two or three days is the most effective way. Truth to be told, I kinda try to do it, but its hard to let go of washing your hair everyday. But it is the best way to have the hair and scalp produce the necessary oils to keep your hair healthy and beautiful.

Washing your hair too often strips it of the natural oils that keep your hair healthy. Dyes, hair spray, gel, blow dryers, straighteners and etc. can have the same effect as washing your hair too much. Washing you hair every day is not necessary, but can cause more damage to your hair in the long run than dealing with not washing it but every other day or every two days.

I agree with Black Widow. I have insanely curly hair so I only shampoo once a week but condition daily. My hair doesn't become oily from washing it daily, instead it gets dry and frizzy. Frankly, putting conditioner on it daily with water does wash it well enough.
What are people doing that their hair is so dirty they have to deep shampoo it daily? In the outback going on a walkabout with clay-like mud being constantly flung onto their scalp? The daily rigors of a normal American, urban lifestyle don't really lend itself to a dire necessity of daily shampooing.

yes what you said is true, i also realised the more often i wash the more oftener it gets oily and the more often i have to wash it, it may end up in a situation where you have to wash your hair 2 times a day, its best to wash it once in 2 days , or else the chemicals of the shampoo may cause inrepairable damage!!

Yep! Because what happens is washing it too much dries you out so your body overcompensates by producing more oil which in turn make it more oily...does that make sense? I wash my hair every other day.

If you are styling your hair in curls, it's easier to syle when it's dirtier. I wash my hair almost everyday. For the most part I think you should wash it everyday or at least every other day to keep it clean

I wash my hair every day too... and it doesn't make my hair more oily.... The thing that I see that makes your hair really oily is touching and brushing through it with your hands... It's dirt that makes it oily, not necessarily washing it everyday!! Hope you get your answer !!!
