If you want to gain weight, why not double-up on the healthy carbs? Loading up on high calorie, sugary foods will undermine your health and be really bad for you. There are much better ways of putting on weight!

It depends, if you have already consumed the calories that you will expend for one days time,then eat the cake, and do nothing to burn it off, you will gain just a little bit less than 1 lb. it takes 3500 cal to gain 1 lb, but that needs to be in excess of what your body needs to survive

no. your body will still use some of those calories in daily functioning, and even though some of them will probably eventually be stored as fat, it won't happen immediately.
if you eat a piece more often, next time you won't eat the whole cake.
