I will be serving a crab leg dinner but I do not know which type of wine would compliment the flavor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm going to suggest the opposite from everyone here and say drink a big buttery chardonnay with crab legs. Something from Burgundy or California [especially if you like a big wine]. You're going to probably dip the crab legs in butter so it is a logical pairing. If not Chardonnay I would recommend a good Riesling. Hertzberger, Trimbach, etc.

I like a dry white wine. CRAB legs are sweet and the wine breaks that up a little, good luck.

The last guy nailed it...buttery, caramel-type wines will go best.

Here are 3:

La Crema Char. 2005 ($20)

Catena Char. 2004 ($18)

My #1 choice would be: Sanford Char. 2003 ($23)

A good French cheaper alternative would be:

Laboure Roi 2004 Les Sangliers Chardonnay Reserve

Enjoy!!!

Something white, light, and very dry. Chablis is a normal wine to choose, but others of that class will serve as well - and many New World wines are just as good and probably less expensive.

I recommend Folie a Deux Menage a Trois white. It's a blend of Chardonnay, Muscat, and Chenin Blanc. Fruity and not too dry or too sweet.

I suggest a white wine. Reisling would go good with crab legs. Or Pinot Grigio.

I would suggest Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc. It's fruity and dry. A great match with most seafood. I love it, and it's affordable.

a white wine
any of these would be acceptable::
Riesling - semi sweet German wine
Sauvignon Blanc - fruity slightly drier than Riesling
Chardonnay - Drier still, woody/fruity flavor
Pinot Grigio - driest white, sharp flavor
