My husband says I am too attatched to our 4 kitties. If it ever starts raining I hurry home to let them in. I can't go to the store without buying something for them. They sleep with me at night (I can't sleep with hubby for his snoring). And the other I day I went and bought a gallon of milk I didn't need when they ran out of the little rings they play with off the jug. I can't help it- they are my babies. Am I taking it too far?

No, you're normal. I have wrapped presents under the tree addressed to each cat, and decorated stockings w/ their names on them filled w/ toys. They also have seasonal collars, premium cat food, and all kinds of other crap they don't need. Next time your husband complains tell him it could be worse (of course my boyfriend is as bad as me with the cats, so it's ok).

Yes you are a bit obsessed with your cats to the point they dictate your day to day life.

Pets are a nice addition to any family but you are making them your own life.

Do you ever buy something for your husband every time you go to the store? Do you buy things you don't need to make your husband happy? If you answered no to any of these questions than you are putting your cats ahead of your husband and I won't be surprise if he walks out the door. Animals are great but they shouldn't be placed ahead of your human relationships.

I have three cats myself so it is not a case of being an animal hater.

In terms of the snoring, why don't you wear ear plugs at night so you can deaden the sound. Millions of people sleep just fine with a snoring mate. Sounds like you use that as an excuse so you can sleep with your cats.

Maybe. As a general rule, your cat will find a dry spot to wait for you- under the deck or some other covered area. If it's really pouring down rain and cold or something else like that (one of our cats is terrified of thunder and will go running off blindly if you don't let him in before the thunder starts or right as it does) then going home to let them in is responsible pet ownership. Of course, so is keeping them in during the day and only letting them out while you're at home. Who or what you sleep with is your call- I sleep with as many of my cats as are willing to share a bed (though I'm single). But buying them things every time you go to the store, and buying things you don't actually need sounds like you do have a bit of a problem.

I think that keeping In mind that they are just animals is important. I catch myself acting as if they could respond to me and I know they can't so I stop and reassess the situation and just enjoy them for what they are, friendly, furry, friends that love me unconditionally no matter how many toys they get. they don't care that you didn't need milk and you went to get them a toy anyway. They could care less that you come home early to let them in from the rain. All they know is what instinct tells them.
They know you are there owner. That's about all they actually can put together. They don't make since out of life because they have no REAL self conscious.
Sorry.

Though I absolutely adore cats -- Yes. You're taking it a bit too far.

Love your cats, adore them, worship them! But don't spoil them to this extent. Rather like parenting, if you spoil them TOO much they turn into little hellions. It's bad for kids and it's bad for cats and it's bad for "your babies" too.

A little rain won't hurt a cat. If they haven't already been rediculously spoiled to the point where they can't care for themselves, then they have MORE than enough intelligence to find a dry spot. If they HAVE been spoiled to that extent, well, shame on you! How dare you ruin a perfectly intelligent cat that way?

Sleeping with you -- well, that's your call, I let my cats sleep with me too, I think most people do. Perfectly normal. Not sleeping with your hubby, well, that's an issue we won't touch here :P

Going out to buy milk you don't need so they'll have another milkring -- sorry, but that's over the top.

Back off a bit and realize that what you're doing isn't good for you, your hubby and whatever other family you may have, or your cats.

My wife is the SAME way with our two cats, and I think it's great. She doesn't even go for human babies like she does with the damn cats!!
She just adores animals - particularly cats. She sees our cats as her children and that's ok by me (But I am not some guy - I'm a lesbian). No harm in spoiling your kitties with love and gifts. Life is short! My own cat died after having a stroke, and believe me - I'd give anything to have him back, and I'm glad I gave him attention and love while he was here. I understand.

Yes. You are attached to the kitties. Make sure you are attached to hubby too or he might get bored and jealous. (He has already noticed you love them a lot). Kitties don't need so much luvin' but hubby does.

I have three cats that I love dearly, too. I do some of the things you describe, but I'll just say this...

Presently (and long-time) single, I wish I had that other love of my life that you have. Make sure sure you lavish as much love and attention on HIM as you do the babies.

You can't be too attached. He's wrong! We had 2 cats, and we had to put one down on November 16th. We were extremely attached to her, and we miss her SO MUCH, but I don't regret how close we got to her, she was our baby! Now her surviving sister gets even MORE attention than she did before. Love and enjoy your cats for as long as you can, and as much as you can. They are treasures!

No, you're not too close to your cats. I'm the exact same way with my puppy. He's like my baby.
