Actually, I once bought an 1830s farmhouse to restore. When working in there alone, I could never shake the feeling that someone was looking at my back. Then weird things would happen, like I'd suddenly have this vision of the hallway being painted a certain shade of blue, and lo and behold, I'd strip through upteen layers of wallpaper, and that very shade was the original paint! I ran into some financial difficulties as well as some priority changes before I ever lived in that house, so I sold it. I think it was a good thing, too. I was never really comfortable in there. And frankly, the experiences I had there I have NEVER had with the more modern home I live in now.
