Well, she's not your wife yet, since you're not married. If you want to get married before you go overseas, then by all means do so! You don't need to have a huge ceremony, you can just go to a judge at the courthouse. Then, have a "wedding" after you return from your tour. God bless you for serving our country, and may you be kept safe from harm and return to your family soon!!!

Go to your City Hall or Court House, apply for a marriage license
And Marry! It is important that you legally marry your fiancé so that she will receive all the benefits the military has to offer.

No legal marriage certificate, no benefits!

Benefits equal FREE Total/Complete Medical, Dental, use of ALL
Military facilities. Military on post Housing or Housing Allowance if you live off post. The list goes on! As your legally married spouse, the US Government will issue her a Military Dependent ID Card. Should your wife want to work, she will have Spouse Preference when it comes to On Base Job Opportunities.

The Point Marry Her. If the time is to short, do it after you finish Basic Training. The military will ship you to your duty station.

You find out the marriage requirements at that location. Valid birth certificates (You will need that so apply for them NOW, in the city/state where you/wife were born. With a registered letter if you must. Marriage will require certified copy of birth certificate, and a blood test.

Why not ask the young lady to join with you and request joint domicile from the army, that way you will be stationed together at/on the same base!

Do your home work and get documentation from the recruiter or military! ALWAYS get documentation when dealing with the Military/US Government. Most of the workers do not keep up to date, or just plain do not know what they are talking about!

I'm guessing that your in Harris County,Texas. My husband is in the army and we got married at the Court house in Austin and we are planning on have a big wedding when he gets back from Iraq and for the girl that said you have to take a blood test to get married in Texas, you don't. I'm not sure if it applies if your joining the military but when me and my husband went to get our marriage license we get married the same day since there is a military wavier of the 3 day wait until you get your license. I hope this helps.

Go to a court house and get married. Or you could get a marriage license and get a minister to marry you at someone's house.
