The recipe I have for rock candy calls for 1 teaspoon flavor (cinnamon) oil. I am not a fan of cinnamon and I cannot find any other flavor oils. Is there anything I can substitute into this recipe like Jell-O?
Please help, my son desperatly wants to make rock candy for his Grandma for Christmas!

I have NOT been able to find ANY flavor oils at Wal-Mart or any of the drug stores in our area.

Couldn't you use extracts, such as a teaspoon of peppermint, or other flavors? I know extracts come in lemon, strawberry, coconut, and orange too.

No. Corn syrup is used in rock candy because it's practically "liquid sugar." It's not used as a flavoring agent. If you substitute vanilla it WILL NOT come out right.

You're not gonna find flavored oils at Walmart. You need to get them from The Baker's Catalog... there you can find Lemon, LIme, Orange, Peppermint, Spearmint....

You can get the oils from AC Moore or Michael's. They definitely have them in the candy making aisle.

See if you have local health food stores I'm sure they just want some form of an extract. You should be able to find them there.

I don't think jello will work. Drug stores usually have this flavoring, even Walmart.
