Is there any product that would adhere to this surface and also bring back the slightly glossy black appearance? Would liquid rubber work or perhaps some other art supply material? The item is a small rubber surface on a binocular. Thanks if you can help...

Thanks for the responses. I've tried the armorall, aerospace 303 route, but these are superficial cures and are removed by handling of the item. Will latex clear coat adhere to rubber?

Any product that reblacks tires can be used. It can be found at almost any auto parts supply. or you can dab on some silicone oil.

Oil or armorall will do wonders... if it still seems rough try using a VERY FINE grade sandpaper it take the roughness off and then oil again, good luck!

why did you use sandpaper on rubber. The mold will return until you kill it with a chemical cleaner. Try Armoral

I would rub a little oil into it, maybe something like Armorall.

Use a latex based spray gloss clear coat.
That should solve your problem.
