I had tinnitus in the right ear, I went to see my ENT and he said that I had ear wax on my eardrum and liquid inside my ear. He removed it and the ringing stopped!! Soon after that, my other ear started ringing and now both ears are ringing but not at the same time. When my left ear rings, my right doesn't and vice versa!! What is wrong with my ears? The ringing started right after I had wax removed from my right ear with a water gun!!

I've had tinnitus since I was a kid...too many ear infections caused the damage. I hope you can find a solution. I can't...I'm stuck with it. They say silence is golden, but I've never known it. Silence only brings out ringing. For many years I could hardly sleep, until I found that those big HEPA filters make a good deal of white noise. Finally I get a good 8 hours of sleep. Before that, I was ready to blow my brains out until I heard William Shatner suffered the same problem and almost killed himself over it too.

God forbid you get stuck with it, but if you do, hang in there and cope with it. I didn't let it get in the way of playing and enjoying music. I do hope you get rid of it.

Have your ENT check your left ear. Perhaps there is wax buildup and inner ear fluid there too. If he has already done so, call his secretary and ask to speak to him or his nurse. Tell her the problem you're having. Do it as soon as you can so you can get rid of the ringing without going crazy=)

have you had your blood pressure checked lately and did you know loosing your hearing starts with ear ringing. Well you should get a good check up or go to a ear doctor, it does not sound like your present Dr. has diagnosed the problem correctly.

I would see the ENT again and have both ears thoroughly cleaned and checked again. I would also get a second opinion.

It is unlikely that the cause of the tinnitus is the earwax itself, though it may be an aggravating factor.
