We do have to make the effort. He doesn't just drop food on us if we sit around an watch tv all day. But there are those times when we hit a brick wall, we're out of money, we can't pay rent or buy groceries.... and out of nowhere, a check arrives in the mail, a bag of groceries shows up on the porch.... He knows what we need and if we are faithful, He helps us when we can't help ourselves.
It also goes with trusting Him with our money. Some people think they can't afford the tithe because adding it to all the bills = more than they make. but if we tithe anyway, the money stretches. It's something you just have to experience.
I wanted to go to a school at my church that cost around $5G and I didn't have the money and my mom didn't either , but I knew God wanted me to go. I saved as much as I could, but was not even close. Then one day my mom got a letter that said she had $7,000 waiting for her that was some kind of deferred comp from her ex-husband's retirement. As far as she knew, she wasn't supposed to get anything from him. That was God's provision. Yes, I know you're saying that money came from people, and you're right, but God is in control and He knew exactly when we needed that money. He often tells Christians to go give anonymously to someone and that is His provision.

Yes & No.
Yes, God has said He will supply all our needs.
Yet that doesnt me we can sit back and wait for Him to litrally drop it in our laps. We still have to work, some on our part. God is saying this to let us know, we dont have to live a life of defeat, God is always around the corner ready to help us back on our feet, opening a new door to provide our needs.
And these "Needs" He talks about , are those wich we truly need, not just fun, fleshly desires. He doesnt supply things that would make us sin or do bad things.
We must use our heads, and have wisdom, when in a tight situation. Asking God to answer a prayer, that needs help. He is there, we only have to ask & trust Him.

He gives us free will to make our own decisions, good or bad. If you believe and trust in God, He will show you the way and guide you and will ultimately provide for all your needs.

How do the question and the explanation go together?
Just because we have free will does not mean God will not provide for us.

That is a promise he made to us. You still have to make the free will decision to believe that he will provide everything you need. Or not to believe that.

because they believe in whatever suits them at the time. If they win something they say it was destiny and the deserve whatever good they get because fate decided so but when it gets bad they say someone else is to blame and they start to say that God never helps them.

He does provide all of your needs-you have the free will to chose to accept and to see what He provides.

This is one of the mysteries of ALL faiths: When we believe in ourselves as co-creators of our reality, then all things are provided.

God has given us the ability to decide for our selves. He doesn't force us to do anything;however, that doesn't mean that there aren't consequences to what we do. God is just. This means we'll get what we deserve. Like or not. Believe it or not.

If your god gives me free will why do Christians put me down for not believing in him?
