Well since most rational people at the very least are agnostics - we have a reasonable theory that there exists a higher being with the ability to influence. There exists hundreds if not thousands of documented scientific impossibilites to further suggest that Adam is actually a reasonable hypothesis - Also studies themselves have suggested an single pair originators for the human species - the problem with evolution is that there is currently not living any intermediary species nor have they found any such fossils - I mean statistically thats just impossible - the intermediary species would have had to been sexually viable and competitive enough to survive - genes demand a significant size, and logic dictates that not all intermediaries evolve at the same rate. Thus if intermediaries existed they far outnumbered the "normals". And to have been competitive they should have been able to survive in the same climes as the normals. Thus any major disaster would have more then likely wiped out the normals before destroying all the intermediaries. As to the person who suggested kin-humping produces uniformly defected babies - should look at some parts of the US - not all kin-humping produces defects what it does is add to our genetic garbage - our genome is surprisingly full of things that dont become necessarily visible such as tendencies for disease and such - If one makes the assumption that Adam and Eve were perfect - it would take time for genetic garbage to accumulate to the point where it would have a statistically reliable chance of popping up. And those born with such impairments generally wouldnt get to reproduce and as such their genes would be tossed out. evolution exists but is only within a species - we are not descended from apes - and the father of evolution - Charles Darwin never suggested that man evolved from lower life forms

Evolution has VERY LITTLE to do with man from ape.
Try evolution and intelligent design. Man did not come from ape. But god is intelligent enough to give us the ability to evolve. Bible written by man. Science again by man. Anything by man is fallable. We as humans will never have a true answer, so everybody needs to get the stick out of their butts and move on.

i myself have pondered long and hard, and in the end, the answer should give you a sense of peace. A lot of people find it in God. The reason for this is, you can be forgiven for doing wrong. That is important because the conscience needs to be clean for the body to continue to function. There is no clear cut evidence one way or the other. True science of course supports evolution, and all the bible thumpers would sharply disagree, but if they would take the time to learn the true sience behind theories then they would see its not the devils way to steer people away from God. Those who do believe in God, great, hope it works for you and works well. Those who choose science, great, hope it works for you well. When debating philosophical questions such as this one, the answer is in the eye of the beholder, not a book, not behind a desk at school, or behind the alter at church, but deep inside one's own heart and thoughts. What seperates man from beast is our ability to use logic and reason and react on more than just instinct. this ability to use logic and reason has brought our species to ponder what happens after we die. This question usually comes natuarlly to anybody who is capable of reasonable thought and who has exparianced death in one form or another. It is my opinion that our narsisism has lead us to believe that once we die we are not in fact GONE but have moved on to something better. Deer do not wonder this nor do the squirles, and for that I say the are blessed with ignorace as all they must worry about is what happens in this world (as though that isnt enough) and not in the next that may or may not exist. We are all gonna die one day, the best advice I can give is to live your life like it is the only one you got,and when you die, you'll have all the answers you were looking for unless of course you are DEAD and cannot process thoughts anymore!! I hope this helped, email me back and let me know what you thought at drdrake217@yahoo.com

I think that you should do research in both. pick a book or two from eachside. Read Richard Dawkins and Michael Behe. Read Carl Sagan and Lee Strobel. And then decide. I think that creation makes the most sense scientifically emotionally and spiritually. Science and religion are not at odds with each other, merely ways to learn about God and His creation. Often we get distracted by creation and forget the Creator. I think science and the world show just how amazing God is.

Why can't both be a possibility? You could have the idea of God creating the world in 7 of HIS days- not yours (damn literalists) and that could span millions of years. And who ever said that Adam and Eve look just like we do now? Even we didn't look just like we did 3000 years ago. It can't be possible that Adam and Eve were Cro- Magnon or First Homo Erectus?

Let's see now, the bible says you came from dust, and evolution says you came from an early form of primate that slowly adapted to fit it's enviormental needs and when those were met, adapted it's brain to make living easier...

nope, you're right, the dust theory sounds so much more believable

Believe in what you think is right and your heart and mind says is right. Who says that Adam wasnt an ape? I'd go for the ape therory, but thats me and my beliefs.

Well you may feel you came from an ape and I'm sure that is because not all people or humans, but the humans come from god

Look at my questions especially the one titled, "...part 2".
I don't see a contradiction at all between science and the Bible. What "contradiction" do you see?

Science is not a religion. It's a course you take. Or a job you may have. Not a life you lead.

Edit... well, okay, there's Tom Cruise and such, but I tend to run away from them :-)
