I would vote for the latter. As I understand it, if you don't pay your tribute to them, you will be tortured for all eternity. Sounds like the mafia to me, but infinitely more cruel and fiendish.

Cosmic mafia? More cruel and fiendish? Ouch!

I vote for the Holy Trinity!

The doctrine of the Trinity is encapsulated in Matthew 28:19, where Jesus instructs the apostles: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

The parallelism of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is not unique to Matthew’s Gospel, but appears elsewhere in the New Testament (e.g., 2 Cor. 13:14, Heb. 9:14), as well as in the writings of the earliest Christians, who clearly understood them in the sense that we do today—that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are three divine persons who are one divine being (God).

The idea was conceived to help ordinary people grasp the great unknown. Unfortunately, the idea was conceived centuries ago and is a little out-of-context for today's society unless you're a mental acrobat. All bad effects from this idea of the trinity are the implementation of self-serving humans.

Jesus is not God but the begotten Son of God the firstborn of all creation the highest created being. God is the Father and only one person, singular not an organization.
Holy spirit is God's almighty power.
Trinity is not scriptural and Jesus neither the apostles taught it. A doctrine cannot be based on the interpretations of a couple of scriptures but it has to be themed throughout the bible.
The trinity doesn't stand up to scrutiny and historical evidence makes it foundation teachings beginning 4 centuries after Christ when Emperor Constantine wanted to amalgamate the pagan worshipers in the struggling Roman Empire who worshiped triunes to convert to christianity by making christianity closer to their beliefs.

And you know what? The portrayal of the mafia on TV and in the movies shows that they're Catholic! And I belive the trinity is a Catholic-only thing.

I think you're on to something!
