Ok as I said in my other question boot camp isn't to far away for me. If I go into boot camp w/ out doing any push-ups. Sit-ups. Running. Any of that good stuff. But not total out of shape. Do ya think I'll still make it through????

If you cannot meet the minimum fitness standards for basic training, you will end up extending your basic training time because you will end up in a physical fitness unit. They will get you into shape to pass the minimum standards.

You will only begin basic training after you are able to pass. Therefore, it is better to arrive there physically fit. Find out what the minimum standards are for your branch of service, and work on the areas in which you are lacking.

Once you arrive at boot camp you will have no choice in how you exercise. I would strongly suggest that you do the push ups and sit-ups as well as running. Drill instructors are not very forgiving for sub standard performance and you can get reverted (sent back a week or more) for poor physical performance. A Drill instructors idea of "helping you" is to give you harder and worse physical punishment. The better prepared you are for the life you will have to live the better off you will be.

Depends where the boot camp is they will both tear you down then build you back up. Some can't take it in either place Fort Benning is 3rd toughest. So I am told there are 2 others tougher they are both Marine camps

Uh...you will make it through. Your DI's will push you through it whether you like it or not. I would suggest you make your life easier and start now. I was in great shape when I started and the DI's just backed off. They found other ways to torture me but they didn't jump all over me like some recruits. It's a sign of self discipline if u are in good shape. That means the DI's don't have to work as hard getting u to the standard with PT and other things. You make their life that much easier and it will be just a lil less miserable for you.

Most likely yes. The drill instructors are trained to whip sad sacks into shape if it's at all possible. They're also trained to wear anyone out if need be. Being 'in shape' will help a lot but it's not the most important thing; I saw some pretty fit guys wipe out. Your mental attitude and dedication are *FAR* more important. Good luck!

Yes, they will recycle you. You go thru boot camp again. Then, if you still can't pass it, they kick you out. Just like your MOS training, you can be recycled thru that again, but who wants to do boot camp twice??? I think it would be better for you to try and get in a little bit of shape, especially if you are talking about the Marines.

I heard that if you at least "TRY", you'll be alright, but if you say "I cant do it", without even trying, you'll be done. This is the SAI program though, so it might depend on what kind of boot camp you are talking about....& since you are on yahoo answers asking a question about it, I'll assume it isn't a specail alternative to incarceration! Good Luck!

You can go to boot camp without doing push-ups, sit-ups or running, but I wouldn't recommend it. When you get to Basic you don't want to be picked out as a slow-poke or someone who is lazy. Drill Sergeants will make your life a living he**! Weakness is not good in Basic training they will spot your right away. Just start a program now. It will save you alot of stress later and you won't need to use as much ben-day for your sore muscles. I was in the delayed entry program, I joined in Sept. and didn't go to basic until March, I started running and doing exercise right away and it still wasn't enough. I was sore the first 2 weeks of basic, and our barracks smelled of Ben-gay every night. lol

Good Luck!

Yes, I went through boot camp and seldom if ever does someone NOT make it. It will be rough on you, but there is a 99.99% chance you will make it, unless you are so decrepit physically that you are falling apart.

You will want to be able to do a min. standard to get into boot camp so your not put into the fatmans platoon. Its a small min like 13 pushups, if you cant pass a PT test dont worry they will get you to where you need to be. Trust me
