My personal trainer eats few carbs and I'd like to give him something small and homemade. I appreciate your suggestions!

Pecan Pie, Cheese Pie, Apple Pie. Now that food. You make him one of those and you change his life forever.

I don't DIET on the Low Carb plan, I LIVE on it. As long as it doesn't have carrots, corn, peas, potatoes or pasta I love it. Salads can be varied and most interesting with the variety of fresh veggies available. Toss a half cup of diced cooked meat of any type on top, grate a little cheese over it. All my salads come out at about 30 grams of carb. I don't know how anyone can get bored with green leafy veggies, tomatoes, cukes, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, Hey, I ate a grated zucchini salad the other day that was excellent. made with the same ingredients as potato salad but in place of the potato they used grated zucchini. Raw!!!

There's probably a lot of good recipes on Atkins.com

I thought you just meant food gifts in general. If you have a health food store nearby, they stock a lot of low-carb foods. Some of them are really good and don't even taste low-carb. You pay extra for them, but as a gift they would be great.

Does your trainer like veggies? You can make him a carrot dessert. Make sure you use the sugar substitute (the low calorie sugar which you find in common)......

The recipe for Carrot sweet is :

Carrot grated: 1 cup
Milk (Low fat or fat free) : 2 cups
Low fat or fat free butter (eg:" I cannot believe its not butter ") : 1 teaspoon
Sugar: 2 cups

For Garnish
--------------
Saffron strands: 2 or 3
Cardomom (elaichi) powder (optional): 1 teaspoon
Cashewnut (optional)

Method:

1)Melt the butter. In a small cup, 2 tablespoons of warm milk and add the saffron strands to it. Wait until the saffron strands completly melts.
2) In a non-stick vessel, boil milk
3) Add the grated carrots when milk starts boiling
4) Keep stiring until milk is 3/4th absorbed by the carrot
5) Add sugar at this point, keep stiring until all the sugar is absorbed
6) Add the melted butter and again keep stiring
7) Add the saffron strand mixture and stir again
8) Add cardomom powder and chopped cashewnuts for garnish

Serve it chilled or warm. I love to have this with vanilla ice cream. Tastes yummy:)

One of my low-carb favorites is bacon and cheese wrapped in a chicken breast. Cook the bacon about 2/3 of the way, flatten out chicken breasts, add the bacon and cheese and wrap them like a tortilla..hold in place with a toothpick..I've always grilled them, but I suppose frying would work too.
