The main cause of bad breath is bacteria accumulated on the teeth and soft tissues of the mouth. This includes the tongue and the roof of the mouth. Cleaning all of these surfaces thoroughly matters far more than what toothpaste you use. This aside, the best toothpaste with long-lasting antibacterial properties is Colgate Total. It's active ingredient (aside from Fluoride) is Triclosan. This great antibacterial agent is used in most antibacterial hand soaps and has the ability to cling to the teeth for long periods of time... for several hours after brushing. I hope this helps.

Crest, the mint with whitening effect. No Colgate.
For fresher breath, brushing is not the ultimate method. You teeth have to be clean and no cavity. You need a dentist.
Also your tongue, the remains of coffee (especially milk), food or whatever you swallow create bad breath.
Listerine is good, but you must tolerate the pain--1 to 2 minutes goggling hard.

Do you floss? Do you use mouthwash? Do you brush after you eat? Do you drink a lot of coffee? Smoke?
All of these things go hand in hand to help toothpaste do it's job. I'm a Crest fan, and there are many different flavors of Crest from which to choose.
Carry breath mints or breath spray with you for extra freshness.

Colgate w/ Baking Soda along with brushing your tongue and rinsing with Listerine. Yogurt also freshens the breath try eating some throughout the day. If that does not work visit your dentist because thier might be somehting more serious going on.

Toothpaste doesn't really effect your breath, what mainly effects it is how well you brush as well as if you floss and brush your tongue.
but i would have to go with anything mint. esp. vanilla mint.
