Drink lots of water and cranberry juice - don't take pain killers they make it worse. There are some kind of 'crystals' (in sachets, can't remember their name) you can drink specially for cystitis that they sell in chemists and supermarkets. Also (to prevent cystitis) when you go for a wee when you think you've finished lean forward and try again because there is usually more - it's best to get rid of all fluid to prevent infection. Hope it helps - cystitis is horrible and painful.

1) Drink plenty of fluids, it helps to "flush" the bacteria out.
2) Take Potassium/Sodium Citrate supplements to ease the symptoms. DONT take theses if you are on Hypertension drugs. (i.e drugs that end in -pril), this can cause hyperkalaemia.
3) Analgesics like Paracetomol can eliminate any other associated pains.
4) Drink cranberry juice! The tannins in it are thought to prevent bacteria "clinging" to the urinary tract".
They will ease the symptoms. To eradicate the infection get a prescription for antibiotics from your doctor, this is the only way the bacteria will be eliminated.

paracetemol or ibuprofen for pain, immediately.
one of those sachets mentioned above, or 1 tsp baking soda in a glass of water (just once, at beginning) to reduce urine acidity.
see a doc - definately - for antibiotics - an uncontrolled cystitis infection can lead to liver damage or worse and is not to be taken lightly.
i know these work - there are patient support groups online with other tips.
if you get more than four in a year, emphasize this when you see your doc - there could be more systemic problems.

Drink loads of cranberry juice mixed with a teaspoon of bocarbonate of soda and as much water as you can stomach.
The cranberry clears any bacteria in the urethra, the bicarb alkalines the acid and the water flushes you out!

you must have antibiotics from your doctor as this can travel upwards to your bladder and then to your kidneys and develop a nasty infection.
if you ignore it it will not go away just get worse.
you only need a three day course of antibiotics and its gone.
my daughter left her cystitis untreated and she is now in agony with a bad kidney and bladder infection and you cant take chamces where your kidneys are concerned.
